They did update their Weekly News Page on Tuesday to say it had been delayed. It’s a rather hidden and late response, mind.

Still no word on the vinyl editions, is nobody who purchased from BF concerned over this. They don't even reply to email enquiries regarding it. It's technically as of yesterday, been over 3 months since my copy of "Masterful" was posted .. I am not sweating this yet... yet....

My advice buy from somewhere else if you can in future. I will from now on, but this is absolutely disgraceful. Luckily I paid with Paypal, I'll give it until the end of the month and then I'll file a non receipt of goods claim. At this stage I'm getting to the point that I'd rather have my money back, the desire to own this on vinyl is passing with each day. They obviously don't have them in stock or they would have sent them out. I just wish they'd come clean.

My take on Echoes is now up on CultBox: a cleverly constructed piece, even if it does end a bit simply.

I reckon Demon Record messed up and gave them all to Amazon and because of current Manufacturer and Shipping factors they're still haven't got replacements for what they should've given BF. Just finished this! I am not sure how this connects to any of the other Time Lord Victorious stories, but taken by itself, it is certainly entertaining for one hour. Just do not expect anything deep or philosophical. Overall, I have been quite disappointed by most of the offerings we got from this event, however, this audio certainly is one of the better ones. Well written, good pacing, very well performed. And you would never guess that this was done remotely during lockdown. I am not even sure who did a better job, Paul or David, they were both brilliant as their respective Doctors!

So, first thing's first: thank God for Dalek Universe. And Stranded, for that matter.
And now, I hate to say it, it's time for a rant. Because, wow. Echoes of Extinction is easily the single-most disappointing Doctor Who story I've ever been subjected to.
And the insult on top of the injury? It's not even a bad story! It's just all of the broader context that makes it such a monumental disappointment.
I've shared my thoughts on the Time Lord Victorious project elsewhere, so I won't go into detail again here, save to reiterate the fact that they pitched a sweeping multimedia narrative and then delivered totally independent audio stories that have no meaningful connection to each other, let alone other TLV media. I could write that off as misguided marketing, or lack of ambition, or even overly restrictive guidelines. Multimedia narratives are difficult, and have only very rarely been pulled off successfully!
But here's the thing that just absolutely ruins the TLV audio range for me: the whole set of stories is predicated on two promises. First, the title, calling back to Waters of Mars, promises a darker, ethically-flexible (or at least tragically misguided) iteration of the 10th Doctor. Second, the TLV set focuses on Paul McGann's 8th Doctor, with a promised crossover story for the (presumed) epic conclusion to the (presumed) arc.
And Echoes of Extinction utterly fails to deliver on both promises. I am utterly baffled that this pitch was even green lit in the first place: a much-hyped McGann/Tennant crossover story where the two fan-favorite actors don't interact with each other at all?
I just... I just... why? Why is this a thing? At the end of the day, the premise of the Time Lord Victorious project had three jobs: deliver an expansive story arc across multiple media; revisit Tennat's darker "Time Lord Victorious" iteration of the 10th Doctor; and put Paul McGann and David Tennant in some scenes together. (Listed, you'll note, I'm descending order of difficulty.)
Three jobs. And they failed every single one. What an embarrassingly pointless affair this whole TLV thing turned out to be. Yeesh.
And the most unfortunate thing? The individual stories are all pretty good! If they'd been bundled together in a single, standalone 8DA boxset, and Tennant's presence in the final story left a surprise, I'd probably be pretty damned happy with the whole thing!
Though, of the lot, Echoes of Extinction is probably the weakest story, owing mostly to its split focus. Though I did appreciate the reference to the Braxiatel Collection, and the 10th Doctor's line about the 8th Doctoe's future was... incredible. And perfectly delivered. It almost justified the re-use of the Time War theme, though in retrospect perhaps the lack of a TLV theme should have clued us in there wasn't as much effort being put into the project as perhaps could have been.
The end result is a fairly enjoyable story capping off a series of 8th Doctor adventures that quite possibly contain some of my favorite performances by Paul McGann, yet I sincerely doubt I'll ever be able to listen to them again. Sadly, art does not exist in a vacuum. No matter how well-produced these four stories are, they are forever anchored to the TLV premise--an anchor casually tossed, it seems (please pardon the torturous metaphor) into the depths of the Mariana Trench.
....
As might perhaps be assumed from the date of posting, I waffled quite a bit about saying anything here. I do tend to make fun of Peri quite a bit, but that's all in good fun--I think she's usually well-written and well-performed, I just don't like the character as a person--in general I really don't like writing negative reviews. Of anything. Such as it were. But I feel it's necessary here, because the individual stories represent Big Finish at, if not their best, close to it. The sound design, writing, acting, etc. is all very well-done. I have nothing but praise for the creative staff here. But they were consistently let down, in every way that mattered, by marketing and framing of the greater Time Lord Victorious enterprise. And that's kind of a travesty, yeah? This set of stories really could have been something special. Instead, I just have a bad taste in my mouth.

Has anyone received their vinyl from Big Finish yet? There’s not even any tracking, which seems a joke given the expense of the postage.

So it appears people that order from Amazon get it about a month & a half before those that order from Big Finish? Shocking.
