This is quickly becoming among my most anticipated releases for next year. Can’t wait until we get further story details and a cover reveal. Honestly, ditto. I've been offering a lot of information and speculations, but to put in a good old-fashioned opinion, it's good to see Big Finish digging into less well-trodden territory. Between this and the 1DAs stories for Steven and Dodo (including, perhaps, yeti, but not as we know them?), I'm kind of excited to see where these productions go next. I don't think we've had this before, in quite this way. It's a rather new and rather neat idea. I'm looking forward to it.

I'm kind of curious if it would be because they had something else lined up for David, potentially. The 3DAs are in full enough swing that a Peladon story wouldn't necessarily be off the cards Huh.

So according to Nick in this week's podcast, this set will explore the period after The War Games, but "not in the way you might expect". Anyone have any thoughts on what that could mean?

Maybe it'll feature the Second Doctor in an alternate timeline where the War Lords actually won? And spread their war across the universe?

Wonder if that means they won’t be sticking to the usual 6B status quo of the Doctor working for the Time Lords.

Hmm. Maybe it's *not* a second Doctor series at all? Perhaps it's the third Doctor before his arrival on Earth in "Spearhead"? (Which is an idea I've had for some years)

I'm fairly sure BF would be done for false advertising for marketing something as part of "The Second Doctor Adventures" then having it not actually be a Second Doctor release.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just regular Doctor Who with an original companion for the Second Doctor. “Not in the way you might expect” in the sense that it’s plain old Who, rather than the unique era it could be; the Doctor working for the Time Lords and the machinations that comes with that.

Just what I suspected. This range basically no different to any other 2nd Doc adventures but just with a new companion. Boring if true.

It continues to seem odd to me to try to fit something in that slot, but what do I care.... as long as the stories are good.

Having listened to the podcast, I find it very odd that Nick Briggs is so reluctant to confirm that Season 6b is canon. So I'm wondering whether instead this box set will take place, like the short story "War Crimes", during the penultimate sequence when the TARDIS is being pursued by the Time Lords?

Oh man, I would be so disappointed if it was that. I love the idea of 6B so if "Beyond War Games" is set DURING The War Games... Still holding out hope for something cool and new though!

Having listened to the podcast, I find it very odd that Nick Briggs is so reluctant to confirm that Season 6b is canon. But it isn't really is it? It's just a fan made theory to fit some things neatly in to place ... which works for some people who like things neat and tidy in one continuity, but it doesn't always work for others. 6B doesn't work for me.
Plus, there is no official BBC Doctor Who "canon" anyway, so we can all make up what we want to in our heads and if it enables us to sleep peacefully in our beds at night, job done.

I mean we are talking about a boxset called Beyond War Games that has been suggested to be set after The War Games by BF so yes it is odd that Briggs seems reluctant to confirm the suggestion.

Like themeddlingmonk says, if you're producing a story set in Season 6b, then Season 6b is canon; if you're NOT producing a story set in Season 6b, maybe you don't wnat to commit yourselves.

Yes so true, this is called Beyond War Games & under the category of The Second Doctor Adventures. Are people preordering based on that alone? Hopefully there will be no disappointment for them if it isn't what they think it is.

It could possibly be that it might not be the 6B people are expecting - ala the second doc working for the CIA. Thats the main connotation when people think of 6B doccy who is working for the time lords, but if its not that then yeah it would be different to what we would be expecting from a 6B release.
I mean it could be something more akin to tv comics. Now that would be spectacular
