With Rory Williams having gotten his New Series Spin Off The Lone Centurion last April
it got me thinking which New Series Companions are there left to receive their spin off range:
Since 2015 Big Finish has already given us: Rose Tyler- The Dimension Cannon Donna Noble Kidnapped The Lives of Captain Jack Lady Christina The Diary of River Song The Paternoster Gang
and Jenny- The Doctors Daughter
We also know that there is a Martha Jones Box set in the works to be officially announced
Which means
Mickey Smith Adam Mitchell
Jackson Lake Amy Pond
Clara Oswald
and Bill Potts
However due to controversy neither Adam Mitchell or Mickey Smith Voice actors would return to Big Finish and likely their characters wont feature in any future audios (audio novels probably could work)
Secondly Amy and Clara's Actresses are very high in demand so the likely hood of them returning to the roles seems like a real slim chance
Which leaves only
Bill Potts and Jackson Lake
Both are strong contenders as Pearl Mackie is quite experienced with Radio and Audio and David had a Podcast Called Who Am i This time (He Recorded Interviews with Derek Jacobi and John Simm from what i can remember)
both Characters can develop quite well- Bill's Fate Post The Doctor Falls is open ended and can be explored (especially with Heather) and Jackson Lake given him knowing the facts and knowledge of The Doctor could be interesting as a Victorian Adventurer and a series in the similar vibe of Jago and Litefoot could be certainly fun.
Plus both Actors have gone on record to want to jump back in the roles
Any thoughts on what Companions could come back?

Not sure he could lead his own spin off but I’d definitely be up for Jackson Lake making an appearance in Torchwood or the Paternoster Gang. Although I think come the latter his character would probably be quite old around the time they become active.

Well he would be 90 around the time of Jago and Lifefoot/ Paternoster Gang So I doubt he could really play a huge role in that unless he is brought forward in time Torchwood is a possibility, diary of river song for sure His own spin off could work if the events of the next Doctor were erased in the cracks in time arc as he could go through the events of the next Doctor agian but without the tenth doctor to reveal his identity to him

I think Clara has the most mileage out of the outstanding companions, particularly The Impossible Girl. That presents an opportunity for both original adventures with various Doctors and also having Clara have her own adventures within existing Doctor Who stories. River Song has tackled both of these in her own range, but the latter does feel more organic with Clara than it would River, I think.
I love Amy, but can’t really see the scope for additional adventures for her outside of the Doctor. It’s established that she becomes the writer of the Melody Malone books, though, so I quite like the idea of a Diary of River Song story that's a recreation of one of those novels.
I don’t think there’s much mileage in a Jackson Lake set, at least I wouldn’t have any interest myself, but I can see the potential in a Torchwood monthly range or two. I also quite like RTD’s desire to write a BBC Books novel with Ten & Jackson set during The Next Doctor, where they’re onboard the TARDIS and the Doctor takes him to another planet. That might be more appropriate for a Chronicles type story.

I don't think it's totally out of the question that BF could get Maisie Williams on board for a Clara/Me series.
On the other hand, I would be very, very surprised if BF got hold of Karen any time soon. She may end up as the one new series regular they never work with.

Maybe go the route that the novels are semi-autobiographical and make Amy a private eye in some noir mysteries. Might be kinda weird to strike the right tone for, but could be interesting.

From Jenna Coleman's wiki page- she is going to be very busy for a while : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jenna_Coleman"On the 27th of April 2021, it was reported that Coleman would be playing the lead role of Joan Bright, and would be the executive producer the historical drama The War Rooms, which will tell the untold story of the women who worked in Winston Churchill’s secret Whitehall bunker during World War II.[56] On the 26th of May 2021, Coleman was announced to have been cast as Johanna Constantine, the great-great-great grandmother of John Constantine in DC Comics' The Sandman TV series"

That's got potential. I was more getting at using Amy without having to use Karen or have someone narrate her lines, as she simply wouldn't appear; she'd be the author. It'd require the writers to be committed to not getting credited, though. I'm not sure how you go down that route!

I remember reading in dwm that big Finish wouldn’t give Sheridan smith her own Boxset but given that charley and Liv have their own perhaps they could do something for Sheridan some real drama about a companion trying to live Post travelling with the Doctor
Can picture John Dorney writing a great story

I personally always thought DI Menzies would suit a spin off boxset. Dealing with ordinary crime alongside the alien community of Greater Manchester.

Someone earnest and strange to balance Menzies' sarcastic pragmatism. Like an alien exiled to Earth who wants to help out. Maybe a kind of community liaison to the underground extraterrestrials. Or just a cop who's not as human as they first appear...

I was just thinking today that BF has worked with Anjli Mohindra enough times that a Rani Chandra series (carrying on Sarah Jane's work watching over Bannerman Road, or not) could work nicely if the rights could be sorted.

RTD has said on several occasions that he doesn't want anything to be done with the SJA license without Lis.

RTD has said on several occasions that he doesn't want anything to be done with the SJA license without Lis. Tbf he said this before making Farewell Sarah Jane so his position has changed slightly and will change in the future. Personally i hope so as my generation would really love to see these characters we grew up with and have their stories continue. We’ll see though

I really want the Jackie Tyler Adventures - she's been so strong in all the sets she's appeared in and i can see her having some more adventures of her own.
