Whoa...I... predict... Wow. *clears throat* Okay, I know I speculated that they might have David Troughton lined up for something on Peladon (viz. Beyond the War Games thread), but to actually see it is a bit mind-blowing. A planet of stormbound grey, citadel towers of hewn stone, shivering torchlight in howling secret corridors, and occassionally an Ice Warrior lurking with a decapitating sword... Peladon is one of those planets that has lasted over the years. It's difficult not to think of King Peladon of the Pels when casting the mind back over the Third Doctor's era. It's left such an impression it's kind of strange to really consider that it's only appeared five times. Once for each decade until now, practically. From curses to monsters, from legacies to brides, from prisoners to, now, ordeals. If there were ever a story to be told over generations, it'd be that of Peladon. A high fantasy world coming to terms with the space age it must enter to survive. It's a great premise, splendidly told from Aggedor to Zixlyr... I'm thrilled to see more of it.

If one of River, Leela, the War Master or Missy isn't in this, I will be shocked. xD
Will there be a Doctor, though? Tim Treloar's the obvious choice, but BF has already done a "return to Peladon" for the Third Doctor... Tom Baker might be a nice fit, maybe with Sadie Miller?

Peladon has long been ripe for spin off material
It's great that with The Robots we're getting Classic-oriented spin offs again, been a while

Now there’s a match up just waiting to happen. I could see the Seventh Doctor being a good fit for Peladon somehow. Manipulating the fine and delicate threads that make up Peladon politics for the greater good.

Honestly surprised it’s taken Big Finish so long to dedicate a whole set to Peladon. It was easily one of the most detailed alien societies of the classic series, and is tied to a handy old enemy to stick on the cover (Ice Warriors). I am curious.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Treloar’s Third Doctor appears, as Peladon is so tied to that incarnation it would seem odd not to (assuming the Doctor is involved at all that is). Otherwise, it’ll probably just be the usual suspects (Leela, River Song etc).

Have it set during her early days where she is hired to assassinate some high ranking Peladon official or something.

I mean, given the placeholder image and the name (Doctor Who: Peladon) I'm assuming these are Doctor Who adventures and not spin-offs. More of a CDNM than a New Earth, if you will. Although hopefully with companions. So, that said, my prediction/wishlist is:
- The Ordeal of Peladon: Fourth Doctor and Leela (or maybe Sarah)
- The Poison of Peladon: Sixth Doctor and Constance
- The Death of Peladon: Eighth Doctor and Charley or solo Liv
- The Truth of Peladon: Solo Tenth Doctor
Although I could one of them being Three (with Jo and Liz?) or Seven (with solo Chris or Chris and Roz) instead of Eight.

Oh, I hope not. Peladon's machinations would be a lovely replacement for early Gallifrey before it got big and epic. Backstabbing, politics and whatnot - that's what I'm hoping for. Don't need a Doctor for that. Given the original Peladon story wa very directly analogues for what was happening with the UK and it's role in Europe at the time, I'd love to think that these will do likewise given that's more relevant now than it has been since the early 70s.

We need Five and Peri returning to Peladon. Either they reunite with Erimem, or arrive there to find that Erimem has mysteriously vanished.

I wonder if David Troughton is cast for this perhaps they also casted him for The second doctor adventures?

Will there be a brexit (pexit?) story? Naturally, that will be the theme of the whole set...
Exploited by the evil alien capitalist corporations and their own local ruling toffs, the good people of Peladon are understandably annoyed with their lot. Instead of realising that the kind, welcoming Federation is a benign influence which really really cares about them, the poor, gullible Pels (who clearly aren't bright enough to rule themselves, so they need to be guided and advised by aliens) are tricked by the very same evil people who are exploiting them into blaming the benevolent, wise Federation for all their problems. In an outpouring of xenophobic stupidity they sever all links with the Federation and go it alone.
Of course, this turns out to be a disaster, economic, social and otherwise. Without the self-sacificing legions of Federation overseers toiling for unbearably huge salaries, the Pels are exploited even more and North Peladon breaks away as an independent state, though nobody else really cares or notices.
But in time even people as stupid/racist/gammon as the ignorant Pels realise their mistake after the unforgiveable humiliation of scoring nul points in the Galactovision Song Contest, again. They overthrow their corrupt rulers and beg for readmittance to the lovely, inclusive, positively fluffy bunnyish Federation. Of course, the clever enlightened Pels (who have now proved they are clever and enlightened by agreeing with the Federation) are welcomed with open arms (six of them) and for an encore, they overthrow their monarchy and declare a republic to show they are really very wise people after all, the salt of the earth. Or the trisilicate of Peladon, as they would say.
(You think my tongue is in my cheek about what might be included? Possibly just ever so slightly. But not entirely... )

(You think my tongue is in my cheek about what might be included? Possibly just ever so slightly. But not entirely... ) Oh dear. For all the political allegorical elements of the 70's originals they were still fairly equivocal. Once it was suggested that a Brexit style subplot may be a likely updating of the tale, my enthusiasm fluttered away. A sledgehammer may have more subtlety. One will be left in no doubt what is a very good thing and what is just plain bad. The work of villains abusing positions of power. Populism is evil, etc... But then I may be wrong and they keep well clear of Brexit/EU allegories.....oh look - a flying pig!

If Ysanne Churchman is unavailable, I wonder if they could get Guy Verhofstadt to play Alpha Centauri?
