Is it wrong that it's weird to see The First Doctor on one of these covers and it's not David Bradley?!

And it looks like the "real Yeti as opposed to robot Yeti" theory might just be panning out. That looks almost like a control harness to me. Too early to tell at this point, but either way, interesting!

Getting clear 'Ski Sunday' vibes from this. And where did he get those smoke grenades from?

I’d honestly recommend it. It’s such an excellent range and it only gets better and better.

Great news - it is a proper EA with Peter Purves' Hartnell Doctor as usual. Always excellent. So it looks like real Yeti but being electronically controlled - surely it's the Intelligence at work, this story is set in the 1500/1600s (if I'm remembering correctly what the Second Doctor said about his previous visit) so that's alien (or maybe human future) tech.

I’m thinking more that some time traveller is using tech to control the Yeti and make them savage for some reason. Maybe he’s a big game hunter and wants a better opponent to hunt? And as I’ve said before, you could still include the Intelligence in a post credit scene where it is encountered on the Astral Plane thus leading to the events of Abominable Snowmen. I dunno. That’s probably how I would write it. But considering the writers track record, it’s probably just the Great Intelligence.

Hurndall & Bradley are excellent, but there really is only one 1st Doctor.

Hurndall & Bradley are excellent, but there really is only one 1st Doctor. If there's one thing that's never quite been duplicated -- homaged and emulated, certainly, but never strictly duplicated (because it's terribly difficult) -- it's the laugh. It's one of my favourite things about the First Doctor. Hartnell brought such an infectious giggle to the part. It just made his eyes glow with it. The Doctor could often have a genuinely amused chuckle at his own inventiveness, but it was also the inventiveness of others. Even rivals or out-and-out enemies. It's a nice character detail. I think it's perhaps nowhere more evident than in The Time Meddler when he finds the secret behind the monastery's cloister of monks. Half of it is that he was clever enough to find it, the other half is that someone was able to get away with it in the first place (quite a different laugh, as it turns out, from the man who traps him there).

It's not gonna happen, but could you imagine if there was a Clara echo in this and they've managed to keep it secret? And with Jenna back to boot?

Clara's in lots of stories, helping the Doctor wherever she is. It's just that in half the stories she doesn't have any lines, and in the other half she's busy dealing with all the Silence who are there.
