So I'm getting into the VNA Benny Books post-The Dying Days and after the first three I'm genuinely loving them. There really seems to be this idea of doing something like the VNAs did with the stories having character throughlines and overarching plots which are a lot of fun. Beyond the Sun may be my favorite of the first three (and its adaptation while maligned is also great). Anyone read these and have favorites/ones to look forward too, including the Big Finish ones?

Hmm. I thought I posted. Oh, well, here again are my two picks - "Ghost Devices" and "Ship of Fools".

I'm a bit more wary on Ghost Devices as I'm not a fan of Simon Bucher-Jones (or his fans) as The Death of Art was incredibly dull and his fans are rabid.

"The Death of Art" is plodding, yes. It's one of those books that need footnotes - I think most people who read it don't realise it's about the Dreyfus case - because the inexperienced author has thrown everything but the kitchen sink into it (Poirot, Moriarty, "The King in Yellow", an abortive followup to the-then as-yet-unpublished "Cold Fusion") but "Ghost Devices" is comic and manic and goes down the wild SF route.
