I hope England end 55 years of hurt. So do I. Then maybe people might stop going on & on & on about 1966.

Hello again.
Hmm... lucky but England as a team are playing better than any England team I've seen play in the last thirty-five years. They didn't let going behind faze them and on balance were the better team. Denmark were formidable opposition particularly Kasper Schmeichel who put in a stellar performance.
Going forward, I'm afraid I've had Italy as winning the tournament from the start and I don't see any reason to change my opinion. The England team will have to really raise their game to get past the Italian team. Whatever the result on Sunday, this England team have done extremely well. There's been some excellent work done by the defence to keep a clean sheet until tonight. The strikers were a bit disappointing tonight after their success in the quarter-finals and I hope on Sunday they concentrate hard on hitting the back of the net!
Sofa commentators like me, have no idea what it's like to have such a weight of expectation on your shoulders as the England team will now have. I have been very impressed with the workman-like attitude of the players. They have their feet on the ground which cannot be easy with all the hype around them. I really hope I'm wrong and Mr Southgate finds a way through tactically and the England players end the Italians unbeaten 33 game run. Here's hoping. and just for once I hope the words of 'that song' actually come true.

Just play with fire, play with your heart's & maybe just maybe it's coming home.
Italy will be tough but they can be beat.

I hope England end 55 years of hurt. We got to the Euro finals in 1984 and 2009, and came third in the world cup in 2015 (fourth in 2019 with Phil Neville managing...)
But then the money doesn't follow the team that did all that, so the media made little of it, because they have invested too much in the men's game only despite the women's game 'formally' - ie, being allowed to happen by the men - starting in 1888.
Now, sports fans - tell me the nationality of the new Wimbledon Ladies champion and who's playing in the Men's final this afternoon, and how many times have Alfie and Gordon won the Men's Wheelchair doubles title?
I know, you don't care and it's all irrelevant because that's not what is constantly being repeated on all radio and TV stations hour after hour.
Bet Sky are sick as parrots that they can't hog the broadcast rights to this evening's match. Apparently the best way to watch is BBC with the sound off and the 5Live radio commentary - because they don't assume their audience can see what's going on and actually describe the game not waffle about anything. I won't be among the audience, I'll be catching up with the Deep Purple / Ritchie Blackmore etc stuff that was on Sky Arts overnight.

Hello again
So this is it. The calm before the storm, soon two armies will face each other across the green sward of Wembley Stadium. There will be skill, speed and tactical ingenuity displayed as each team tries to find the chink in the armour that leads to a goal. Steadfastnass and tenacity will be required from each defence unit as they endeavour tokeep the opposition out. Whoever wins tonight will bask in the glory of winning the tournament. The defeated team will taste bitter disappointment but can stand tall as they have beaten many other teams for a place in the final. This is a great occasion, football has come home, another final played at a new Wembley under that graceful arch. All the best to an England team who have exceeded initial expectations before the tournament. One last hurdle remains. Go for it...
I just hope the England fans show more decorum and respect than at the previous matches. No booing this time please, it lets your country down and the team down. Whatever happens I hope everyone has a good time tonight and enjoys the match. All the best to all footie fans on the forum whoever you are supporting...

Ah well, looks like it just wasn’t to meant to be.
Still, we got into the final which is an accomplishment in itself and well done to Italy!
