Hey everyone, While I feel Avatar had a lot of potential and it's execution was more then a bit botched, I am intrested in the sequels to see how it develops it's universe post-humanity and the world of Pandora. And it's James Cameron, surely the first film was a fluke

I never even watched the first one. I was a bit of a curmudgeon and was annoyed at all the attention it was getting because of technical stuff not story.

Not really, if anything because it stole away the title of the cartoon show, so now everything it does is branded Last Air Bender.
I get bitter about strange things.

As far as story and plot, it's better than the newest Star Wars. And there's always Sigourney Weaver. The movie is definitely worth watching. I'm interested in the sequels, though not excited about them. . . at least not yet.

No interest for me. The first movie was technically interesting but the story didn't do anything for me.

No, and I doubt it'll do anywhere near as well as the first one. That had people talking about how it was the first film in the 3D revival worth actually seeing.
I can honestly say I never hear anyone talk about it. Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Pixar etc - ALL the time. Avatar? Not at all.

No, Avatar is vastly overrated in my opinion & at times boring, I'd prefer Cameron to film another Terminator film showing the actual war against Skynet & ignore the last few films as the last three non Cameron movies have all sucked.

Not really. The story itself wasn't great, full of stereotypical, 2-dimensional characters. I've seen the same story done 100 times over, and done much better. (My nieces came out of that movie saying it was just Disney's Pocahontas done with blue people.)

To be entirely mean. The reason I never watched Avatar is cause I've seen Dances with Wolves., and in that movie, I saw Kevin Costner ass. Where is Kevin Costner ass in Avatar!

The main point of interest for me will be the world building. Now that the set-up is done, there can be a focus on exploring Pandora and its different environments (the next one is going to go into the oceans apparently). The visuals will be stunning. At least James Cameron isn't giving these films a half-hearted effort.

I have interest in James Cameron films. But I do not have interest in Avatar films.

Nope.
It was a very pretty film, best watched with the sound off given the laughably two-dimensional characters, predictable plot, and paper-thin dialogue, which often sounded like something out of a video game.

I'm more excited seeing Disney building the environments in real life at Disney World than seeing more sequels.

Avatar didn't do anything for me, which surprised me because Cameron has made a couple of my all time favorite movies. I couldn't make it more than about an hour through Avatar, though.
I do think it's interesting that people don't really talk about Avatar much. It just never seems to come up when I talk to my nerd friends or when I'm at the comic store. I don't see it represented at conventions in terms of cosplay or merchandise, either, and I don't see more than the occasional news report about the sequels online. It was such a huge film, but there is a strange sense that it's been largely forgotten by many people.

Pretty unanimous! I bet Cameron is happy he isn't relying on Doctor Who audio fans for box office takings

I will see it as I have an unlimited card but I just don't think it needs it. I just feel it is complete as a 1 off.

I liked the first Avatar movie, so I expect I'll see the sequels.
