Yeah, from what little we know I wouldn't expect or particularly want cameos from the Doctor or Master, any more than I'd expect Churchill or Hitler to turn up in Schindler's List. I guess the Valiant is pretty big, so there's plenty which happens away from the two Time Lords. Probably be more effective if the Master was never featured. Only talked about in hushed whispers by the surviving population as he looms over all. I would love it if John Simm appears as the Master even if it's just a cameo. The Master was supposedly hunting Martha all year and it seems to me there would have been some near-misses in Martha's early days on the run. If Freema recorded it in late 2019 when she did Torchwood then having Simm record an insert when he was recording Masterful a couple of months later seems within the realm of possibility. But I also know there's no way in hell Big Finish wouldn't have included that fact in the press release, since The Master must surely be among their most popular characters.

I could imagine a scene where one of Martha’s allies in an adventure is captured and taken for interrogation. They’re cocky and defiant to the end, assuring their captors that they can do what they like, they’re certainly not going to break. Only for the door to open and we hear the voice of Simms Master. Due to the nature of this little act of rebellion, he’s taken a personal interest. The ally is naturally terrified and immediately breaks down promising that he’ll tell him everything he knows. The Master merely responds (as lifted from Darkman) “I know, I know you will...” He walks over to a tray filled with all manner of torture devices. “But let’s pretend, you didn’t!!” He chooses one and marches over to his prisoner who screams in terror. End story.

Fantastic cast they have there. And I love the idea that the Master is kept in the background as some unseen presence yet very much in control.
Although, if this range does prove to be a massive success I’m sure they’ll get John Simm in for an appearance in a future volume.

Well, Deanna Troi should be handy for Martha if she needs a good cousellor!

Sadly, I'm pretty sure I read that John Simm isn't interested in any further returns as the Master.
My feelings on this box set? I love the character of Martha Jones. Far from spending her time all dewy-eyed over the Tenth Doctor (a lot of people are similarly predisposed toward David Tennant!), she pretty quickly got herself together and got on with her life, and I think her 'journey' was written and played really well. Sadly, I found the Tochlaphane story a bit of a let-down. Martha's journey to spread the word about The Doctor (which is the background here) so he could magically come back to life was a bit of a low-point for me (other opinions are available ). Rather than have her bogged down in all that, I would have preferred to have her in more of a 'what came next scenario. Hopefully that might come some time in the future.

Could tackle her interactions with Torchwood in a future volume. I’m not sure it was ever confirmed in the episodes prior but I’m sure the Master sent them on a wild goose chase to the Himalayas or some such journey. Could see her bumping into them while she travels the world.

Gorgeous cover! And nice to see Julie Graham back, especially after rewatching Goodbye Sarah Jane Smith a few days ago…
The RT article mentions Lorelei King “returning as resistance leader Jessie Grant” which didn’t ring any bells with me and isn’t on the TARDIS Wiki at all… is that just an error or am I being thick?

Think it’s an error. I think they mean her returning as in returning to Big Finish.

Well, I have not been interested in this. This is just a story that does not much for me, like the episodes it relates to. However. Another huge love of my life is Star Trek. Especially TNG. So yeah. Considering getting this closer to the due date.

Textless Cover Regards mark687 Great Scott! Great Caesar's Ghost! Good Googly Moogly! Jumping Jehoshaphat Batman! and.. Holy Mother Forking Shirt balls! Marina Sirtis? THE MARINA SIRTIS??? I may need to spend the rest of the evening picking my jaw up off the floor.. Obviously I'm a tad surprised (understatement) by Marina's inclusion..(someone with oh so tantalising 'connections' to Trek alumni..) but what a cast list! Roll on December!

Agents of the Master, hmm now that’s a interesting idea for antagonist. Potential there.
I will admit, I’ve never seen TNG really as I just can’t get into Star Trek. But I know enough of the show’s reputation to recognise that is a coup. So kudos Big Finish.
