Its not something i have planned on buying I didn’t buy Donna spin off or Rose Spin Off as i just can’t enthuse about them i want them with their Doctors .Seriously if Martha was with Tennants Doctor i would snap it up instantly and am a bit miffed she didn’t get a special set like Rose and Donna did and not interested in her or ACE IN Torchwood releases either....

Excerpt is great and Freema is on fine form; the trailer coming straight after is a complete contrast! Can’t wait for the set to be released.

I'd be surprised if it didn't drop tomorrow, I figured most of BF would be taking time off next week

Flew through this because I was loving it so much!
Strong trio of stories, Freema is like she's never gone away and in her element - the trailer is a real disservice to both her and the set - and Adjoa is fantastic too. The presence of the Master is felt throughout the set, despite John Simm not uttering one single line, and the world building is well done, really showcasing the devastation the Master has inflicted. The exchange between Martha and Francine where the latter says the Master was bringing in body bags implying they're Martha is harrowing. Strong guest cast too.
I really liked the framing of the set, with Martha recalling adventures with the Doctor, linking them to events in the set and also obviously planting the seed for the resolution in Last of the Time Lords. The way Freema reads and performs those segments means she'd be an ideal candidate for Short Trips and/or Chronicles adventures.
Only criticism I would have is the last quarter of The Last Diner seems a little bit weird, like it has a shift in direction.
I had more detailed thoughts, but didn't note them down as I was listening and now my mind has gone completely blank! But suffice to say I would welcome a second set and a set told in parallel for the Master. After the disappointment I felt with The Last Centurion early on in the year it's nice to close it off with an enjoyable set from another one of my favourite companions.

The Doctor does technically appear but through sort of narrated flashback sequences like in The Churchill Years where his dialogue is spoken by Freema.

The Doctor does technically appear but through sort of narrated flashback sequences like in The Churchill Years where his dialogue is spoken by Freema. What he said. There was one bit where I thought David might’ve cameoed during a flashback where the TARDIS sounds are there, as it felt like they were going a bit full cast, but it never happened.
Same with John Simm, feels as though it’s building towards a cameo from him in the last episode, albeit not one involving Martha, but it never happened.

It might just be the fact that I listened to this throughout the day, rather than in two or three 'chunks, (and, actually, the middle episode in two 'chunks'), but, whilst I'm not going to say that this isn't necessarily a 'favourite' boxset in the world, very much an interquel, but I liked the fact that it wasn't all 'doom and gloom, end of the world'. Would I recommend it to people? If you're a fan of Martha and series 3, sure. Aaaaam I going to listen to it again? Yeah, I guess, maybe, but not for a while and not until I give the three-part series 3 finale another watch. (But I guess listening to it, not necessarily all in one go, but at a time where I might be able to pay a little more attention to it, might help to improve my, admittedly mixed, opinion in it). {Spoiler} As others have mentioned, whilst I'm not strictly surprised that Tennant didn't appear, I was at least expecting Simm to be in it somehow (even if it was a cameo at the end of part 3)...

This was a mixed bag for me. Freema was fantastic, and it seems to me this was actually more of a Companion Chronicle boxed set due to the stories she tells throughout. Adjoa is also great, as is most of the guest cast. I like that they used many American/Canadian performers, and those that do a good American accent. But the stories themselves were mixed. I liked the first and third, but didn't like the second story much. This is capitalism? Really? No, it's sadism, and it was never called out. The actress even describes her character as just looking out for everyone the best that she knows how, but that bs. If this was the premise of the story, I wanted to see the effects of this system on the people there. Maybe I was expecting too much, but all I could do is wonder if this is how people in the UK see us Americans. Competition without compassion. And that is not healthy.
I also think that they wasted Marina Sirtis. She was very good, but I wanted more. Her character doesn't really do anything. I was hoping for more.
I do agree that the characters of both The Doctor and The Master are ever present in the background, and I liked that. I just wish it was better. And if it's a choice between another of these sets or a 10 and Martha set, I would much rather have the latter.
