Dang...
I will admit that I wasn't exactly positive when she announced (FFS, I believe being my reaction to the 'trailer'), but four-odd years (and two series) on, well, I will admit to being sad to see her go...

The main positive takeaway for me is that I think Chibnall now has a strong chance of leaving on a high. With a six-part serial, there's really no room for error in terms of making a low-quality episode. The nature of a single serial will hopefully force them to ensure the quality remains high.
As for three specials, the specials have so far been the highlight of Chibnall's era for me, so I really hope they can pull it off. They're set-up for success now, so I really, really hope they manage it.

So, repost but an expansion too: it seems like McTighe is the most obvious choice as next showrunner. Since he came back from Australia, it seems like he's been making hard roads back into the industry here: -taking over Discovery of Witches, a high end fantasy adventure series. -BBC1's The Pact this year. -Got another drama coming soon called The Rising, which has some S12 writers on it too. He's been producing a lot of material recently, which would make him a viable candidate/name beyond just having Wentworth as his major thing. I imagine the Beeb would want, or perhaps prefer, someone who is a name or worked on something big and recent. Plus, a lot of female leads in all three of these projects. Unless it's a total dark horse, someone nobody sees coming or even a new face on S13 that completely blew Chris away and has the best debut episode since Moffat (maybe since Matheison?), I can't see a lot of other immediate choices on the current staff: -Alderton probably still too junior, ditto James. -Patel's doing his own sci-fi show. - Hime's never been the head of a series and seems to be doing more staff work than originals. - Wilkinson seems to be pivoting more to directing. - Metivier's done A List before, but I don't know if that'd be enough to swing it. Maybe it could be someone from an older series or era, like a Whithouse or Dollard (who wouldn't be a bad choice, of course), but I'm not betting the farm on it. I also wouldn't put stock in there being no sucessor announcement - that news could likely overshadow S13 so it's held back for another time. Now if we go outside Who, there are some choices I can think of, but with caveats: Jack Thorne (though this is really unlikely, the dude's insanely busy), Tom Bidwell (Irregulars, Watership Down), Julie Gearey (Intergalatic), Daisy Coulam (Humans, Grantchester, did Deadwater Fell with Tennant), maybe one of the ladies from Killing Eve (not PWB, but maybe Emerald Fennell, Suzanne Heathcote or Laura Neal).

dorney hope you get the chance! That would be amazing! I wonder if we would see BF characters cross into the main show?

Dorney as a showrunner? No thank you.
Maybe they could have a duo running the show, Joy Wilkinson & Pete McTighe?

Hopefully Jodie does Big Finish in a few years. It's a shame such a talented actor was given so little to work with.

Chibnall -- I understand we're only just a bit under 2/3 through his run so there's room for improvement yet, but by and large I've been hugely underwhelmed by his stewardship of the show. Thank you, goodbye, don't call us, we'll call you.
Jodie -- It's too bad she's going, I've very much enjoyed her Doctor. Can't say I'm massively surprised though, a Doctor actor's tenure is generally 3-4 years anyway. In short: I'm sorry to see you go, but I get it. Thank you for your time, you're welcome back for special episodes any time.

He was talking about writing for 13 for BF. Not rude to express an opinion (especially saying "no thank you") & your post just said "Dorney I hope you get the chance". In a thread about what next for the tv show not totally unreasonable to assume from the very limited words in the post this was about who would be a potential new showrunner.

My main observation is no comment on the show's 60th. I hold my position it will go to Netflix... Jodie’s finale is going to be a leading item in the BBC’s centenary and your take away is that it’s going to Netflix? It's an April Fool I wrote for someone. My surprise is no mention of Doctor Who's 60th the following year

My surprise is no mention of Doctor Who's 60th the following year I think this will be something announced when we have the new showrunner announcement. I do wish that we get an actor who doesn't take the usual 3 seasons & out approach.
