I'm not quite sure what to make of this one. It has all of the ingredients to be the kind of tale I'd adore, but I dunno. The flavor just isn't quite there. I'd be lying if I said I've spent my whole life waiting for an SF story set in the Oort Cloud--it's only been most of my life. Kinda wish Doctor Who had spent this premise up on a bigger release, but I guess beggars can't be choosers.
Anyway, anyone else find it kind of conspicuous how they set up this reserve as, essentially, a Garden of Eden, without ever really acknowledging the parallel or doing anything with it? I dunno. Seemed kinda weird to me. Definitely seems like the kind of thing that could've/would've been fleshed out more in a longer release.
Also: did I misunderstand the ending, or did Peri really just ruin an entire society just by letting them reproduce her brain waves? That's....
Also also: kinda feel like I missed something in the end here. Did they ever explain just what, exactly, the aliens motives were? What were they doing out here, in the abyss, just hanging out at the edge of nowhere?
