I think it's a little pessimistic to say Capaldi will never do Big Finish, but at the same time he doesn't have to do it, and if he's said all he wants to with the role, that's all right. We've got Short Trips and Chronicles to tide us over for now, so there are outlets for twelfth Doctor stories, and Capaldi seems to have no shortage of interesting work.

Sorry I think I overreacted because it’s tied to my dream of desperately wanting to write for Peter as 12 at BF and I also just don’t want people to give up hope of him coming back. I never mean to derail conversations with endless debates 😢 I just like talking talking about Peter coming back and 12 and Clara and if I mentioned them as an aside sometimes on another thread I never mean for them to spiral into anything. I’m sorry. I don’t want to feel like I can’t ever talk about the people and character relationships I love without it annoying people 😢 I never mean to bother anyone 😔 I know. Maybe we can get you let off with a plea of extenuating circumstances? lol. Seriously, I thought you'd done a pretty good job keeping your enthusiasm to your creative threads and What's Made Your Day (or Not), but there have been some unusual occasions for discussion like Capaldi's comments that turned up in other threads and also the 12th Doctor Chronicles here. I imagine some already stale comments in this thread might have tried to be a bit of a slap in the face for someone very passionate about the 12th Doctor who was just seeing them. What would DU be though if you weren't infamously crazy about 12 and Clara and Tim weren't infamously crazy about Nyssa and the rest of us weren't just infamously crazy? :-) I don't want to say... "dour"... but I hope we're all adults here who know a lot about the history of the franchise and the audio plays, and no matter how well intended the offer of a healthy dose of realism might be, I think it's probably all more about hopes and dreams and daydreams that being realistic in the first place. I remember when Paul Darrow passed, rest his soul, and people were being "realistic" about the future of B7 and it seemed like some people thought it was the end of the range because it had lost its stars. All I could do was just ignore the "realism" and keep hoping - and I wasn't disappointed, btw. I think I could only keep dreaming even in spite of having realistic expectations, especially if one were so passionate about something that might be so integrated with their creative inspiration. If that's what fires your dreams as a writer, just keep that flame of hope lit please! Er... um... (looks around )... maybe in another thread, of course Thanks 😊 well said!

I think with Capaldi, like with Eccleston, he needs time and the right script. Even for a return to TV. He might not want to do a big bombastic multi-Doctor special, but I can see him returning for a more intimate, Two Doctors/Twice Upon a Time esque episode. Especially if it (or the audio) explores his character in a new light, like, for example, the musical perspective you propose, timegirl.

The only directly tangible thing in regards to Capaldi and BF right now is Alex Kingston saying she talked to him about it in the Legacy of Time BTS. Everything else is speculation and potential implication for now.
So let's not panic yet. When he's not the immediate predecessor, then maybe there's a better chance.

I doubt this would ever happen but if one day I was working for BF and I had to to pitch Capaldi something to entice him back it would definitely focus on the music/musical aspect and I know the exact first story line I would pitch him first and believe me when I say it would definitely show him in a totally new light! 🤔😊

Michelle Gomez has also stated a couple of times she talks up BF when she sees Capaldi at conventions. He will come to us when he is ready. And if that day doesn’t arrive, well, it doesn’t arrive.

Unless Matt Smith throws him under a bus or summat, OF COURSE the day will come! NONE, not even Christopher Eccleston, can resist the pull of the mighty Time Vortex! I was gonna say - I know we've discussed it before but I'm foggy on the details, but @davygallagher bought up a wonderful point which is Peter Capaldi's wonderful "socialist" attitude about kids having accessibility to Doctor Who, which I admire SO much... But I'm just curious if there aren't ways to accommodate that? I don't know, I was thinking of maybe something like how some of the 8DA were done up for BBC broadcast, maybe the 12DAs could get some broadcast time so that kids get to hear them, and so forth. I'm not even sure what all options there might be with all the different platforms and things. Maybe things would seem less exclusive to him if people were able to hear 12DAs on Spotify or buy a whole set for an Audible token or whatever? Anyway, I know there may be different obstacles to Capaldi's immediate return, but hopefully his admirable attitude about Doctor Who doesn't have to be one of them??

Oh, about the 12th Doctor Chronicles! lol - I'll be ordering Timejacked! most likely with my very next order and much looking forward to it. I may never believe it's Peter Capaldi any more than I'd believe the Ninth Doctor Chronicles are really Chris Eccleston, but I'm in about the same place with the 11th and 12th Doctors as I was with the Ninth Doctor Chronicles and the Churchill sets - at this point, it's just really good to see Big Finish working with the characters and adding to the stories that exist.

Was disappointed to see how little space and information this set got in the latest Vortex. I’m assuming it’s due to it being brought forward in the schedules, but was hoping to get some tidbits to entice me to purchase. All I really got was that this is seemingly a new era for the Doctor and their intention is for Keira to stick around.

All I really got was that this is seemingly a new era for the Doctor and their intention is for Keira to stick around. And yet, in the behind-the-scenes in this week's podcast, Alfie Shaw seemed to imply that Keira was only going to be in this set. I have to say, as someone who's really looking forward to this set (12 being one of my favourite Doctors, and the preview from the podcast sounding really great), it's disappointing to see almost no promotion for this set. It comes out this week and we haven't even had a trailer yet!

I wouldn’t say they necessarily implied that she wouldn’t return, just that the first set was going to be pretty much self contained.
Like I could see the plot wrapping itself up and Keira leaving the Doctor at the end of Timejacked, only for her to come back again in a follow up set. Particularly considering where it’s set in the timeline and the fact Keira probably has a vortex manipulator to get about.

IT is actually impressive that although not exact that Dudman has managed to sound so aged.I am really enjoying this take on him and it works as a full cast drama and given that am only on the first story I am not,not going to listen to the rest.Good stuff. {Spoiler} And loved the wee nod to Dorney-Metropolis story

By the end of the set i had actually completely forgot about Dudman and really enjoyed the set of stories and will definitely relisten very soon as it was actually easy to imagine Peter in the stories and i look forward to further stories in the range It may not be Capaldi but its as close as we will get to the real thing and am sure as Dudman does them he will very much capture it.Not bad for an Englishman 👍
it Gave Me a 12th without the TV show baggage of Clara and what /who she is and i liked that i would love a regeneration story where he regenerates into David warner 😂
