I couldn't see a dedicated thread for this. Anyone else a fan? Only just started to listen.

Yes, for me it remains the best non-Who (or related) BF range.
Daisy Chain is, to this day, one of the best BF releases ever. It's a story you can really imagine being in the TV show. Later series when it got a bit more expansive with the lore are very much expanding what the premise could be and do but that first 2005 run? Fantastic.
David and Susannah are excellent casting even if Warnever never quite got the cold callous aspect of Steel. He comes off a bit more sisniter when doing moments like that wheras David McCallum was cool and collected even when the darkest things happened. Who can forget him whistling happily after the tragic Tully's end in Assignment 2? Terrifying.

It’s an excellent range but one which I felt didn’t really end satisfactorily. Mind you, I never was a fan of the conclusion they were building towards anyway. So, it’s really a case of swings and roundabouts.

So, it’s really a case of swings and roundabouts. I thought it was a great range. I loved the first two seasons, they were really good ... the third season not so much so. (I'd put Second Sight and Remember Me only slightly a level above Exile in my worst BF audio list.)

Is it still available to buy? Unfortunately, no. Much like The Tomorrow People they lost the license sometime ago so your best bet will be scouring through eBay. Although I have heard hushed whispers that they’re still available at the odd convention here and there. Not from Big Finish though.

Is it still available to buy? You can find it on eBay but not cheap. A friend of mine has them on CD they bought years ago I recently found out.

I have all of these and they are great. I go on holiday on Friday and intend to listen to the first 5 stories again whilst away. I really like Remember Me, very much a tale to remind us to enjoy the hear and now and not to regret the past.
Note: plus The Robots 1 & 2 and Space:1999 Breakaway- which I've been saving.
I also have 60% ish of The Tomorrow People range but need to give it another go.

I was lucky enough to buy these LITERALLY the week before the licence was lost. I'd been putting it off for a bit while I rewatched the DVD set of the TV series, which while good CAN be a bit...slow. The audios? WONDERFUL stuff.

Yeah, still my favourites I love them and hate two of them
If you never heard them do not listen to the last one.....once listened to you cannot unlisten to it and spoilt things..........
I hated the final lol of series 2 missing hour one, just a mess for me...........but many found it their fav.......so what do I know........
But great casting and recreated the feel of the tv series in fact improved it.........
Stil don’t subscribe to the piracy killed this range more like more niche than dr who ....... if my experience of piracy is anything to go by they download cause it’s there, often never listening to it or intending too....... So don’t think it helped but don’t think it caused it........but who am I.......
I bought the series one twice for some reason......lol And most of tomorrow people again when they sold them off.......lol And first 116 again digitally......hehehe

I got all except for 3 from Big Finish just before they discontinued the range. The exceptions had already sold out I was lucky enough to find a copy of one in Forbidden planet, the other 2 I eventually found at sensible prices on Amazon (required some patience waiting for reasonably priced copies to appear)

I wonder why it is not viable for BF to sell them again as DL only. After all the costs would be virtually nil other than a bit of admin/marketing, so the revenue would be almost 100% profit - all BF would need to do was agree a split with the rightsholder. From the rightsholder's point of view it would be money for nothing and if BF had a non-exclusive license then it would not preclude the Sapphire & Steel property generating revenue elsewhere.

That was always BFs approach to expired Licences till last year (when 2000 AD and Tomorrow People joined the formal by Letter Club with StarGate) of We will not give give back the Licence please desist in asking. So now they no longer are actively pursuing long expired stuff. Regards mark687

I think they normally have to negotiate with those involved in each production too, so it is probably mind-bendingly complicated even if the rights-holder gives the nod.

This was a great series. The first series was outstanding.
Nigel Fairs' music was perfect. It's a shame the music tracks were never released separately.
