Just spotted that Radio 4 Extra is currently repeating the first series of political drama "The House", written by the historian (not the actor) Christopher Lee.
This starred Timothy West, Julian Glover and Isla Blair, and featured Christopher Benjamin as British secret service agent Henry Colvill.
Benjamin was later given a spinoff, "Colvill and Soames", which is more regularly broadcast, where he and fellow-agent Alex Soames (Amanda Redman) help the police investigate mysteries. Sort of a slightly-less ebullient Henry Gordon Jago.
I've only ever heard "Colvill and Soames" (and I think, in fact, only the second series), so this is probably worth a listen.
