Glad to see something survives of this sorely underrated series.
I wonder if there's any possibility of doing anything new with the license? Bit odd to have a hub for this range when this is the only thing in it at the moment...

Omg this is so hype i always wanted to listen to these stories as i loved the show as a kid cane to big finish too late. Wow this is amazing and is the first instance of bf regaining a licence if i am not mistaken? Maybe earth-search i’m not sure still this is pretty big news and very exciting, instant pre order for me maybe might even lead to more productions which would be crazy, happy with this though and the implications for other series is tantalising

I remember loving this show as a kid (it was on during Doctor Who's "off season" if I remember rightly), but I was only 9-11 or so and don't really remember any of the details about it. Having seen this announcement though (and having been thinking about picking up the series over the last year or so), I just hopped over to ebay and found all three series for $62 including shipping (not bad since they're all long out of print!). I'll almost definitely be picking up this Big Finish re-release once I'm reacquainted with the show over the coming month or so

This is unexpected news.
I already have all of these on CD, having subscribed back in the day.
All very enjoyable.
It would certainly be interesting to see if they do anything else, assuming they have the licence back!?

Just had the newsletter drop into my Inbox...this announcement has certainly come out of nowhere!
Slightly curious as to why now (the only thing I can think is that next month marks fifteen years since the show premiered on BBC1 - is there a cult following for the series?), but I'm not complaining. Six hours of audio for just fifteen pounds is bound to find it's way to my backlog in due course...

The 15th anniversary thing makes sense, but BF's previous license expired around 6 or 7 years ago so it might just be happy coincidence that they've been able to sort out the rights in time for it.

Huh I’d forgotten these had existed. I did watch the series (I was very much the target audience at the time, as this was the family drama when Who was away) but remember practically nothing of it. Who knows maybe if I find a way to rewatch the series I might give these a proper look.

This is quite a surprise and really the last thing I was thinking about happening at Big Finish, though I'm glad it is. I hate for any of these Big Finish productions to have to be locked in a vault where new listeners can't find them. I hope this means that Big Finish may be toying with reaquiring other licenses of their's such as Highlander, Judge Dredd, and Stargate. I missed out on some of those and would love a chance to buy them.

Edit:See its been said up thread about the single releases being put in the accounts of those who already purchased back in the day, thats cool though and they didn’t need to do that They’ve always been accessible on the app to those who bought before the license ended. I can see them on there right now.

I seem to remember a big thing when big finish lost the licence for a whole ton of property's at once was about how people couldn’t even download or access them anymore, so its surprising if the robin hoods were there, i feel that must have been a mistake on bfs part

Edit:See its been said up thread about the single releases being put in the accounts of those who already purchased back in the day, thats cool though and they didn’t need to do thatMmm...it would have been disheartening, if they didn't honour that. I specifically bought all 6 Robin Hood titles on download and when the range was retired customers were told by Big Finish that those stories wouldn't disappear from our accounts. Just like they announced last week that the retired Martian Chronicles will remain within our download libraries of purchases. I appreciate that Robin Hood has its own hub again (even if it only shows 1 complete release), because within our accounts we now have the option of using a "Robin Hood" range filter to find its previous 6 single releases. To locate something like the discontinued Sigmund Freud Files you have to either type it into the search engine or trawl through all your downloads. I didn't realize that the Robin Hood titles had been removed from our download accounts. It might have occurred when Big Finish did their last major refresh of their website a few years ago. I'm confident that Big Finish did the best that they could concerning this matter.

Sapphire and Steel, I think, was only ever on CD? The other lost licenses (Highlander, Stargate and Tomorrow People) I had to buy elsewhere so if they did return to sale as downloads I would likely buy again, price permitting, so as to have access to them in the app.

Oh don’t get me wrong i totally agree, it would have been disheartening if they hadn’t and i and really glad they did. Somewhat unrelated but i wish bf would keep ranges and releases up on the website (easily accessible) even if they aren’t available to sell anymore or OOP. Its annoying having to scrawl through the internet to find details on these fairly niche releases. Like the robin hood stories, today i was trying to find which reader read which specific release of the original 6 releases but these web pages aren’t accessible. You can glimpse them through a web browser but clicking on the page redirects to a 404. I think it would be nice if they kept these up for prosperity and had then accessible through the website
