Seems that Old Friends is Tom Webster's last big Finish, at least for a while, according to his twitter.

I definitely knew what Mrs. Beckett's role in the proceedings was the moment she spoke with the Doctor and Sasha - at least that she had edited out her husband's affair but I thought the explanation of the murders was neat. And as has been said, good performances all around. Gosh it's a delight to have Eccleston with us again.

Speaking of stuff to look forward to, now'd be a great time to announce more Out of Times so we can finally get some multi-Doctor stories with the 9th Doctor. Other than the AU incarnations, Eccleston is the only Doctor not to have any multi-Doctor stories. Also, let's get Eccleston (and Tennant) in a second Peladon boxset while we're at it. More, more, more!

I think this set is joint with Respond to All Calls for being my favourite Ninth Doctor Adventures set.
Fond Farewell had an interesting premise and overall I thought it was well done.
Way of the Burryman, although I enjoyed it, I felt it was taking a little too long to get to the plot. I think it might've been a mistake to announce the Cybermen on release day since I was waiting around for them to show up in the episode. I think it would've been great if the Cybermen had appeared without any prior warning (especially given as there's no Cyber reference in the title and nothing in the synopsis hinting at their involvement...). It still had some nice Nine/Brig moments.
The Forth Generation was a strong second part for me and I thought it ended this series of sets on a high - I thought the Cybermen were well used and suitably creepy ("They will become our family").
Yeah... a really strong set of stories. Looking forward to Series 2!

I thought there was thread for each of the stories? Can't find them. But this is brilliant boxset I hope we get so much more but no multi-doctor or dalek just more like this.

A good solid release again for the 9th.
Loved hearing 9 meet the Brig.

Old Friends closes out a rather good season of stories from the Doctor a lot of us thought we would never hear from again. I really quite enjoyed the set with the one caveat that I felt the two-parter felt a little padded out. These two hours make for a cracking good story but i felt like a slightly trimmed down story would have made for a great season finale. Others mileage may vary. On to the next set of stories.

Love the cliffhanger on Way of the Burryman... Everything the Doctor did in the episode was a mistake!

Done Fond Farewell and that was good outing for Nine. The ending did seem to lack consequences though; did everyone just agree to ignore that people died?
Started on Way of the Burryman before getting interrupted. Is it just me or does Culshaw’s older Brig seem to just be his usual take but talking very loudly? It’s just a bit jarring that in these calm conversation scenes the Brig is practically barking orders.

As to your story point I don't think so, in fact it took me slightly aback to hear the Brig reference Aftercare and Counseling for all effected. Regards mark687

So I quite enjoyed Way of the Burryman/The Forth Generation. Interesting dynamic between Nine and the Brigadier, with the Time War going unsaid but clearly picked up on by the Brig, and neat transition from folklore haunting to Cybermen invasion.

I was very surprised to have another two stories set in Scotland here. Thats what? 4/9 in the last 3 sets. I was kinda expectin a reveal as to why but no, just seems they were all Scots writers so set them here.
The dialogue was very authentic, "heid the baw" is a very, very Scots phrase for an idiot. Likewise, The Doctor references an Irn Bru ad "Made in Scotland, from girders..." which was very much playing to the home crowd. Its a terrific bit of the land, Queensferry, and I spent a few summers there. The rail bridge really is as epic as you would want. A real feat for the 19th century, total pioneer work.
I loved Culshaw as older Alistair here. Captured a man who still has the tendency to take over...but years have made him kind and warm. Can you see Season 7 Briadier telling junior officers to call him by his first name? I loved the treatment of the Cybermen here. I always think they are best used as either unstoppable conversionites or as sad reminders of their lost humanity. Was very surprised to see Sam here - really adds some lovely backstory to him, and its the kind of crossover that feels real, not for commercial appeal. It makes sense to add his prequel here.
The opener was...well, it was an OK story. Everyone played it well but it felt like a kinda mystery where there was only one really obvious suspect. It did not do very much with the notion of what you would do with a last day. It seems a bit of a missed chance to me. I know the memory of death was removed, but to know that you have hours anyway...yeah, I think a deeper look, more emotion would do. Not stuffy company people etc.
But that is very small potatoes. 12 in and I would say the 9DAS have been a marvel bar the first set, and even that had the novelty of CEs return anyway. So....overall....FANTASTIC. And here is to many more!
Welcome home, Chris! We love you.

Finished off the set today - the last episode reminded me a lot of Death in Heaven, in terms of its bits and pieces - UNIT, a half-converted Cybermen and their lost love, a hopeful Doctor giving a speech, then saying goodbye to a friend to travel on alone... That's not to say I thought it was too derivative, of course! It gets to those points via different paths and does new things with them. And the similarities echo forward, to make that moment at the end of Death In Heaven feel like an epilogue to this story.
And it's lovely that the Brigadier treats CYBERMEN with compassion here - Big Finish has touched on his regret for the Silurian incident before, in the first UNIT audio drama "The Coup" (which must take place around the same time as this one) and it's nice to see that character growth on display.

Well, since 2/3rds of the story is set there, 232 years back yesterday, The mighty Forth Bridge was opened. More than 4,500 men worked over eight years to build it, using 53,000 tonnes of steel. In 2015, it was granted UNESCO World Heritage Site status.
