(Sadly there is no thumbs-up emoji.) Would go to see it. When I think of the "modern" TARDIS, I tend to picture Smith's--with all those winding stairs and raised platforms (sometimes without even handrails?). Kinda makes me wish Big Finish made their own TARDIS interiors... pretty easy to do digitally... im fact, maybe I'll make one myself. Cascading ramps and enormous bookcases, everywhere.

So if anyone still wonders if Madeley will just go with any old tired trope about disabled characters, well:
Try pitching a magic 'healing' story to her now.

To be honest, there was never any chance a Jac Rayner range would go that way.

To be honest, there was never any chance a Jac Rayner range would go that way. I couldn't imagine any story going that way with a wheelchair user character. Seemed very odd to suggest it tbh.

So if you haven't had a chance to see Madeley in anything before, this is coming next year (and I might be biased, as I know some people in this) and I can also confirm they did give out 'Piss on Pity' shirts to the cast.

Not a criticism, just an observation, but for such a forward looking range, I’m quite surprised to see two white males writing the majority of this set. I can’t speak to able-bodiement, but I thought it would be written by a majority, if not all, by female identifying writers.

Bit surprising to see a companion--and a new companion, at that--get front/centre/largest appearance in the cover art of a Doctor Who release. It'd make sense if it was a spinoff range where the Doctor was only a guest, but it feels odd here.
Ultimately though...whatever. The 'poster' doesn't dictate the story, and I'm always excited for more Sixie stories.

What I am unconvinced by is three separate stories about water worlds as a hook. It does make sense with Hebe being a marine biologist, but I am worried there isn’t enough you can change, and how are they going to switch it up for the second set onwards.

I love Claudia Gironi's style, and this is another great cover from her. The choice of writers is good - one is unknown to me, the two others often deliver the goods. It is also refreshing not to have any returning monsters/locations that I can see. Much as I love and am anticiptaing Sylv's return, I wish his upcoming box-set sounded as fresh and exciting.

Odd that they've gone for the art-style for this release. I like the style when it's used for the audio books or new ranges that are mainly completely recasts (i.e. War Doctor Begins and the upcoming First Doctor Adventures) but I hope it doesn't become one of the default styles for BF, I feel like it should be limited to 'special' releases or ones that consist of mainly recast characters.

I must admit aside from the fact we’re getting another new writer there’s not a lot here which grabs me. In terms of stories I mean, I’m sure Ruth Madely will do a sterling job as Hebe.
I’m surprised at the cover art though. I do like it but I hope it’s not the default art now.
What I am curious about and without sounding like a completely insensitive blaggard (although I’m inevitably going to sound like that one I know so I do apologise) is how they going to tackle historical stories in the future. When it comes to the TARDIS and futuristic/advanced worlds I expect them to be fully wheelchair accessible but the past? Not so much.
Again, I’m sounding like a right cad here so I do apologise once again but I do think it’s a valid point.

These subtitles for sets are already becoming a hindrance, it seems. A box set shouldn’t be dictated based on setting them all underwater or on earth. They’ve moved to them for accessibility and freedom, so let the contents reflect that.
I’m fascinated to hear how Hebe will work out. I love Ruth Madeley and I believe it’ll be well handled, particularly with Jac Rayner producing the range, who’s vocal about chronic illness and its effects.

Honestly, I would be quite surprised if BF brought in a disabled companion without considering the logistics.
