If you've seen the thread on "Today's General Entertainment Purchases, I bought the new limited deluxe Fireball bluray XL-5 set from Network Among the many bits of cool memorabilia, ephemera and new items is a brand new audio. Produced by Anderson Entertainment, just like the other BF related Anderson properties. What makes this even more interesting though is that Nick Briggs voices Professor Matic and the villain, the titular CLoud Of A Billion Lights, you can see the CD in the middle of the pic below (pics of the rest of the set in the thread mentioned above). So I wouldn't be surprised if XL-5 isn't the next GA property to pop up at BF.

I saw the *pre-order* for it just today from Jamie's email for his site to release it on October 22nd. Nicholas Briggs is always a lively and entertaining reader on his audiobooks. Jamie probably got a hometown discount for Nick to perform and help produce it. Seeing some kind of Fireball XL5 representation from the Big Finish website does seem likely in the near future. Any idea on the concrete reason why we are not seeing UFO audio dramas? UFO, Space: 1999 and Space Precinct are the only ones of Gerry's that I have watched on TV.

ITV announced a film of UFO about a decade back, so my guess is the boring old rights ones. ITV are extremely protective, along with Studiocanal - hence BF being able to adapt a lot of Anderson but not make new ones, ditto with The Avengers. Jamie is a very lovely guy and a credit to his dad. I''ve sent it queries and he answers personally and honestly. As if my recent GA acqusitions aren't enought to make me seem like a fanboy, I''m literally posting wearing the official replica shirt of Koenig/Martin Landau from Space 1999. It's great as it's not "cosplay" - to people it's just a shirt but those that know..know.

Further to what I said above, I re-listened to the Benji and Nick podcasts for UFO and Space 1999. Interestingly, Nick said he far prefers UFO, so you have to think he would be making that already given half a chance. Waggishly, he says he would love to refine and re-write a few things in the pilot of Space 1999 if he could as it was good but not great. The podcast came out 5 months after BF had recorded Breakaway but before they announced the range so he was being a bit cheeky there!
