It's not a Spin-Off but as long time members may know I'd like to hear a post DU/Time War onset Short Trip chat between Romanna and the 8th Doc "So Zagrus cleared up as soon as you kicked me out the Universe, how did things go here without me?" Regards mark687

We already know that this time next year we will be on the brink of a six part Doctor Who series, but in 2022 it will be starring the Eighth Doctor.
Perhaps that will also have a four letter series title beginning with the letter F (no sniggering)
Set after Stranded, perhaps it will be called FREE
It would be interesting if he faced the Sontarans, the Weeping Angels and the Cybermen as well.
The Doctor’s future past mirroring the Doctor’s past future.

Don't really get this obvious bad dislike for Stranded. I am enjoying myself with it. Charlotte Pollard on the other hand, I still have no desire to visit (especially since many people say it is not a feel good audio and it might drag me down mentally). Charley, for me, is a feel good character, and I am pretty sure I would, like many other people, not really appreciate her doing a U-turn character development.... Yes, Stranded is not as streamlined as Ravenous was, especially the finale was unbeatable, but I still look very much forward to the next release. I just think the smaller scale and the many quirky characters are nice. Plus, I like Andy. I really should do a re-listen before the next release....
Not wanting to start an argument by the way, I am just a bit surprised by this strong reaction since I just thought you had a "meh" response instead of strong dislike...

FACTS.

At its current trajectory, Stranded is looking to be my favorite piece of Doctor Who media. Full-stop. It has everything I most love about the franchise, and minimizes the aspects I like least. All I can do is sit here and spew hyperbolic superlatives in its defense. Not like Stranded is like not liking the 6th Doctor... I can accept that it is an opinion that exists, but I will never understand it.
Anyway, as I've finally gotten into the 6th and 7th Doctors's eras of the show, I've been thinking about that 7DA regeneration boxset Big Finish has been teasing for a while, and it's got me thinking about how that might play out.
And maybe this is equally a fit for the fan theory thread--I'm sure y'all can see where I'm going with this.
So:
The biggest disparity between successive Doctors is the difference between the 7th and 8th. We've gotten so many tantalizing hints about their "relationship" -- from 8 repeatedly expressing deep regret over 7's actions and a determination to never be that sort of person again, to 7 implicating foreknowledge of his personal timeline.
So I'm thinking... bring McGann in for McCoy's regeneration story. I'm not sure how I'd want it to play out, but there are a few elements I think it should touch on: the 7th Doctor doing something so monstrous to create 8's regret/distaste for that incarnation... and the 7th Doctor looking to the future (Time War) and realizing the only path to "saving the universe" (oof) is for the 8th Doctor to be, well, who the 8th Doctor is: a man desperate to help all he can, but equally desperate to stay out of the war.
How might that work? I dunno! But, consider, for example... what if the 8th Doctor was more accepting of the 7th Doctor's ways? More inclined to meddle in the timestream. More devious, more willing to construct elaborate plots, and make sacrifices for "the greater good."
This would not be an 8th Doctor who runs away from the War, but towards it.
An 8th Doctor who, like the War Master, embraces the chaos. Even revels in it. An 8th Doctor unable to restrain himself, falling, as it were, to the "dark side."
So, yeah, I know it's cliche and y'all know exactly where this is going: an evil 8th Doctor.
All of which culminates in the 7th Doctor manipulating his own memories and then placing himself in just the right time and place to fall to a hailstorm of bullets upon exiting the TARDIS. Sacrificing his life in a bid to "create" the 8th Doctor we know and love.
The core idea being that any other Doctor would inevitably be corrupted by the War. A set like this could also be fun to have for McGann to play both the TV movie/Storm Warning version of himself as well as a "corrupted" version -- taking the bitterness and trauma of the later 8DTW characterizations and doubling.
Or, well... hm... maybe that's too cliched. I dunno. I just really wanna see McGann and McCoy opposite each other, one-on-one.

To be honest, although I do like the obvious thought you’ve put into this I always liked the delicious irony (although completely unintended) that at the end of his life the master manipulator that is the Seventh Doctor is killed by a random event he couldn’t possibly predict. Still, no doubt Big Finish will end up inferring his regeneration was the work of the Dark Citizens or something else come the Last Day boxset. However, I am surprised Seventh and Eighth haven’t had a Multi-Doctor story with one another yet. Aside from the proposed Fifty-Fifty that never got made.

Yeah, I get that. And I also agree with you! The main issue I have with 7's death isn't thematic (where I think it works very well for the character) but logistic. We know the TARDIS is sentient, which begs the question of why it would materialize at the specific point in space time where the Doctor would *immediately* be killed upon walking outside. It's that proximity that raises my eyebrows and makes the accidental explanation feel unlikely.
But also, I'm not sure the two ideas here are mutually exclusive.

Honestly i want to see an alternative 8th doctor that RTD envisioned ending the time war and was willing to fight to save the universe
the one that Big Finish was setting up from the audio To The Death before Moffatt kiboshed with his retcon

Novel adaptations may have fallen by hte wayside, but can we have an EDA series following "The Gallifrey Chronicles"? (I was interested that in the last BF podcast they revealed that Matt Smith was the first choice to play Fitz in 'A Company of Friends')
