The stories that cemented Doctor Who as more than just another show, and birthed Dalekmania. However, do you prefer your Dalek multi-parter claustrophobic and bleak, or expansive and with a gonzo villain plan?

I think The Dalek Invasion of Earth simply for the novelty of seeing the Daleks roam familiar and recognisable London locales.

The Daleks.
An ep too long but fabulously tense. All the regulars get things to do and it starts a mythos we still explore today. It's really where Doctor Who begins in terms of what the series is and always was to the general public. No Daleks, no stories past mid-Season 1.

I think The Dalek Invasion of Earth is the better story but the original is were it all started, so without The Daleks in 1963 there might not have been any Dalekmania!
(Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. was the better of the two movie adaptations for me as well.)

You know, now that you mention it, I actually do rather like Attack of the Cybermen ...

Both great, but has to be Invasion for the tearjerker ending

The Daleks definitely has some iconic moments and is very much the reason the show is still around today, but if I'm basing purely on the stories themselves then it goes to Invasion. I find it the more enjoyable story between the two of them, and Daleks just drags on for a little too long.

Honestly, The Daleks.
There’s just a sense of hostility in those early stories. The universe is unchartered and dangerous and so too is the Doctor. I really dig it, even if it does drag on a bit in the middle.
