Big Finish. For the love of stories……nope not feeling it. The peaceful music in the background doesn’t work either. Ok. Back to trying to listen to the actual story.

God of War Excellent Sound Design and Music I wasn't as invested as i was with Secrets of Telos but i thought it was a pretty decent story for ice warriors at least i think the highlights were the conversation with The Doctors and his companions the ending does make me look forward to Vol 2 7 out of 10

Different can take time to get used to but this, Big Finish. For the love of stories just seems more labored every time I listen to or read it. And yeah, dumping You are listening to a Big Finish Production at the start of the audio for this doesn’t make much sense to me either.

Secrets of Telos was the driest BF audio I’ve heard in a while. I was honestly bored to tears.
I quite enjoyed God of War on the other hand. And I, Kamelion was really nice too. So they kinda turned the boxset around for me.

Its clunky and out of place. 99% of the time I hear "For the love of...." used its invariably followed with "God" when someone shows verbal stupidity. I never associate it with positivity. Zero idea what was the problem with "We Love Stories".

I get the vast majority of my Big Finish output on download, and one of the first things I do is delete the 'ident' at the beginning of each episode. I bought it from Big Finish, I know it's a Big Finish product. They don't need to tell me!

I thought Secrets of Telos was dull. There’s very little to it, quite a lot of clunky exposition and I don’t think it balances what’s happening to the Doctor very well. I love Tomb of the Cyberman, but have no interest in the many sequels to it, and I find those particular Cyber voices quite grating. Even the normally reliable Sarah Sutton sounds like she’s just reading her lines and not playing Nyssa.
God of War was a complete contrast! A pleasant little story, the Ice Warriors are well served, unlike their recent UNIT story, and I enjoyed the way the Doctor interacted with Adric, Nyssa and Tegan based on what he’s going through.
I’ve always thought the ident was a bit overkill to begin with, especially when it’s on every story in a box set, but the new one is poor. It stands out like a sore thumb, has some weird musical build up and doesn’t even make sense. I really don’t get the logic behind it.

Yeah that new ident is just terrible. It reminds me of the sort of tagline you'd get if you got a committee of non-marketing people together and asked them to coming up with a tagline based off of a mission statement.
More related to the release, really enjoyed the first episode of Telos.

Or maybe you just don’t like it. I mean this as a joke but also as an actual question, no offense is meant however: You're the one who rated it a 2/5 aren't you? Wasn't me either, fwiw. I haven't voted.

To the people questioning why there is an ident, I'm pretty sure it's to help prevent piracy or something. Like when people make a song and overlay themselves saying their own company name onto it, it makes it harder to steal and pass off as your own. It tells you that it's someone else's like if an artist puts their name on their art, it's annoying but it exists for a reason, it prevents theft. As for why the change, I have no idea but I've theorized with others that it was probably forced for some weird legal reason or something. Also, I'm almost done with Secrets of Telos and thus far it's one of the most intense and horrific BF productions I've heard in a WHILE. It's got lots of problems, especially in episode one, but dear god the body horror is great. Also, glad to finally know who the mysterious 2 rating came from!

Yeah, the new brand tagline is quite awful, but it is only a tagline at the end of the day so I won't lose any sleep over it.
I'm half-way through Secrets of Telos, I think it's okay... however it was easy enough to stop listening halfway through last night, which is very unusual for me. But I can't actually say I dislike the story.

I know it's a terribly cynical thought, but I've been wondering since yesterday whether the inclusion of the mini-audiobooks as an unexpected free extra....is saying something about how well (or rather, not) the DW audiobooks may be selling.

I don't think anyone here is wondering that, there have been idents on Big Finish releases for quite some time now. We're moaning about the new ident and its lousy tagline lol

But big finish gave us free short trips with the main range so why were people not making “this is probably because the main range isn’t selling” comments there? Sorry if that sounds a tad harsh but it really seems odd to me that people are complaining about getting free stories, it just seems people are still crying about not still having the main range

Sorry if that sounds a tad harsh but it really seems odd to me that people are complaining about getting free stories, it just seems people are still crying about not still having the main range The thing I only recently realized is that this really was the best possible move. The monthly range was a bit of a mess to say the least. I mean so many storylines and so many Doctors at random intervals and the stories tended to be iffy most of the time. The crazy thing is that we're getting about the same amount of stories anyway. Think about it, 6 hours of stories per doctor per year excepting other ranges, that can amount to roughly 2 60 minute stories and 2 2 hour stories or about 3 monthly range releases, so we're getting basically the same amount (if not more because sometimes years would have very few of one Doctor or another) plus it's gonna be far easier to navigate and far cheaper. 17 bucks a box set is about 34 dollars a year for 3 monthly range releases thereabout, which would have cost 39 dollars. It's not a lot, but it's money saved nonetheless. Honestly I'm sad to see the monthly range go but having dedicated box sets really does seem the best thing. I honestly hope they do more mini-audiobooks. It doesn't seem like it since the news post said it was just to help the transition and would only be for 3 box sets, but here's hoping they become a regular thing, I'm so excited to hear I, Kamelion!
