And so the Jamie Trilogy begins! I was really excited for this. I mean, if you were going to pair Jamie up with any Doctor other than Troughton's, Colin Baker's is the obvious best choice, right? Anyway, I can't say this was a too-tier story, but it was still pretty fun (and definitely much better than the uniformly underwhelming Charlie Arc). The disorienting, overlapping time zones was also a nice touch--very reminiscent of The War Games, but tasteful/subtle enough not to make the parallels explicit. Colin Baker also gets to whip out a Scottish accent... which was pretty fun, but I'm not sure how seriously I was supposed to take it. For those more familiar, how believable did you find his accent? I wonder if it came across as weirdly affected as the nasally faux-American accents tend to, to my ears at least. And special shout out to a really cool monster idea: a sentient swarm of leeches. How cool is that? And it's especially fun in light of the fact that the 6th Doctor's era, in general, is not typically home to terribly interesting alien designs/concepts. The main thing holding this story back, I think, is Jamie. I know, I know, continuity is king--but with his memories erased, the fanservice here just... doesn't really land. Jamie could be replaced by any generic highlander and the story wouldn't change much. The great appeal of crossovers like this is seeing how companions react differently to a different incarnation of the Doctor--and seeing how their relationship dynamics change as a result. Hopefully this'll change in the latter two stories, so I'm not inclined to give this criticism much weight unless it persists. Finally, before I forget--since I've complained, at length, about the inverse w/r/t the GAL range) I really like that we're seeing a much older Jamie here. It's nice to see how much he's grown as a person, and built a life for himself. .... Well, anyone else give this one a listen recently? How'd ya' like it? What other past companions do you think it'd be fun to see meeting future Doctors? For me the dream is Susan/12, but barring that impossibility, I think it'd be really fun to see Ian and Barbara with the 6th or 7th Doctor.

Ooh... I shouldn't have asked... haven't been able to tolerate solid food for the last week or so... that sounds really good.
Definitely gonna hafta Google "square sausage", though. Am curious if there's also a cubic variety.

And North of the border if you are still feeling hungry in the evening you can also have deep-fried pizza with a deep-fried Mars Bar to finish you off!

And North of the border if you are still feeling hungry in the evening you can also have deep-fried pizza with a deep-fried Mars Bar to finish you off! A few years back I went to a little hole-in-the-wall pizzeria that served pizza in concave pans. The center was about 2" deeper than the rim. Ordered a pepperoni, and when it came out the center of the pizza was a pool of grease about 1" deep. When we cut the slices, the hot grease seeped into the cracks and immediately deep-fried the crust below. Don't get me wrong, it was very tasty... but, man, I was full after just one slice. (And continuing this theme of desperately unhealthy food, I dunno about Mars Bars but in some parts of Texas, deep-fried butter is a thing. Don't ask me how that works, I've no clue.)

I think knowing how the trilogy ends is a wee bit helpful in this tales relisten Its Interesting to note that it is also Simon Boveys only BF which is a pity as its a very polished tight script but hey am sure he is a very busy man, Its also interesting to note that Frazer isn’t a Scotsman 😂should he be allowed to portray a Scot?Seriously its a great script full of interest and it rarely lets up with the mystery and suspense and action. This was actually a good strong trilogy of tales . But just hearing it on its own it is interesting in its own right and i did that with no spoilers
