“The year is 1987, and Britain is divided. In Bradford, strikers are picketing and clashing with the police. In the City of London, stockbrokers are drinking champagne and politicians are courting the super-rich. The mysterious media mogul Alek Zenos, head of the Zenos Corporation, is offering Britain an economic miracle. His partners wish to invest – and their terms are too good to refuse. While the Doctor investigates Warfleet, a new computer game craze that is sweeping the nation, Mel goes undercover to find out the truth about Zenos’s partners. The Daleks have a new paradigm. They intend to conquer the universe using economic power. The power of the free market!‘
Thought i might as well continue after the 200 release secret history and i really loved this one when released, loved the cover loved the immediate beginning even though you knew from the title the original Dalek office Tower was a good cover and visual.1987 was a year i remember and also games technology with its very primitive beginnings..and it was also a good use of the Daleks but let me finish the listen and i still remember the ending which is pretty good for a dalek story hahahah

Definitely feels like the sort of story that could have been written in McCoy’s era. Especially with its take on Thatcherism. Wouldn’t have nearly half the budget to depict all the stuff in this story.

But hey in the imagination it costs nothing. It gives the main cast plenty to do and especially Mel and the supporting cast are all good strong roles and Celia is such a great villainess. The Daleks are pretty ingenious in this using two methods to achieve domination {Spoiler} Economic domination and the use of kids to do what their battle fleet computers cannot do..real death via games

This one is pretty high up in my queue! Thought it had a fun premise, so it's glad to see y'all like it! Definitely interested to see how it takes on Thatcherism--way before my time, but you know: I've heard stories.
Also 1987? That's the year of Dragon Quest II, Final Fantasy I, Zelda II, Megami Tensei, Wizardry IV, and Super Mario Bros. was already two years old. Quite a time for the medium.
