I've been catching up on some viewing and I'd like to see BF take a crack at Crime Traveller. Science fiction/time travelling/police procedural could be a lot of fun. It wasn't very popular as I remember. Just one season?

What about Harry Potter? I think it would make a fantastic audio drama. Why?

It's considered a bit of a joke in the UK so I doubt it would even be considered. I actually liked it more than most but the general feel is that the Beeb were so embarrassed to do sci-fi in the 90s that they instead made this kind of thing - a procedural cop-show that just happened to have time-travel in. I think that's a bit harsh though the plots, rules and writing were a bit facile though - hey - that's not stopping Legends Of Tomorrow in the present day . Even Red Dwarf, that was getting huge ratings on BBC2, was getting no love from the higher ups at the Beeb in that era. It annoyed me growing up as shows like The Next Generation or Lois And Clark were getting shown in great slots that homegrown sci-fi could have had.

And don't forget Crime Traveller was commissioned at a time when everyone at the BBC thought we needed Eldorado aka EastEnders in Spain rather then decent Sci-Fi drama.

Highly imaginative and fantastical elements are good fits for the brain GPU IMHO

And I guess what I keep coming back to is a police procedural that incorporates a time travel element is a interesting idea and something Big Finish could do a lot with. And yeah, I kind of enjoyed Crime Traveller.

It's not got any following at all and when it is remembered it's - like Mark above - not fondly recalled. I think there's more chance of BF adapting Timecop and getting Van Damme in. At least Timelord007 would buy that!

If 'other properties' refer to series they don't currently have a licence for (regardless of if they have previously), then bringing back Stargate would be my number one! When I first discovered Big Finish, I think it was about a week before they lost the Stargate licence, so I never got the opportunity to get any (and there's no way I'm going to pay some of those second hand prices... sheesh!).

I find Crime Traveller quite amiable. Dreadful, but amiable. It could have been cracking but ended up just brainless fun.
It needed a different writer - Horowitz came across in interviews at the time like he thought he was doing time travel plots no one had ever thought of. And then he wrote "let's try to win the lottery and fail even though we know the winning numbers". He said in the RadioTimes something along the lines of how Crime Traveller was the only show on TV you couldn't work out the last ten minutes of an episode from the first. When in fact, it was painfully easy so to do.
"A man and a woman, you say? Who've disappeared? Right... they're our main suspects. Let's make finding them our main priority." "Do you think they'll turn out to be us, like they did last week, and the week before?" "No, that hasn't even crossed my mind." "Does that jacket not smell?"

Since there is a cops in space theme going I'll throw in Space Precinct. On a more earth bound level of crime some Campion would be nice.

I would love some Big Finish-style readings of HP Lovecraft stories. I know some have been done elsewhere, and occasionally very well, but a consistent series, with a few subtle sound effects would be absolutely wonderful. If they can do Carnacki, surely they might consider a bit of HP!

What about Harry Potter? I think it would make a fantastic audio drama. I don't think HP is really suited to audio drama, the books are very visual and long (Order of the Phoenix could easily cover 6 discs alone), and written largely from Harry's personal point of view, which would mean lots cutting and narration and a very big cast, audio drama is less likely to appeal to HP's younger fanbase demographic, which would push the price even higher... Child actors are unlikely to have much voice acting experience and I can see the license being quite expensive anyway.. I'd rather see them adapted as graphic novels...

I haven't heard the BBC version yet, but maybe the time is ripe for another Lord Of The Rings adaptation...

The Odyssey would be a terrific book to adapt. Big Finish has such a tremendous stable of actors that could flesh out the cast. Tom Baker could be Agamemnon and Dan Starkey could be the Cyclops.

As a Classicist, I routinely pitch this to whoever might listen, together with other bits and bobs! Maybe one day...
