I had the stray thought today that Big Finish adapting Robert E. Howard would be very exciting.

Behind the scenes issues as always. Its when the completely changed what was going on with Series 3. I'd just love for them to pick up from the end of Series 5 and sort out the cliffhanger When the lead star of the show .. leaves . and they replace him with an alternate version. that was shark jumping time ! Wasnt it a case of him being combined in a Slide accident with his Brother?

Nope, behind the scenes Jerry decided to leave- so they replaced him with an alternate version of his character. He came "cheaper" too (the actor) LOL

Now that I've finished watching it, I'd love a full adaptation of Alexandre Dumas' The Three Musketeers starring the cast of the BBC series. It's the right level of meta to appeal to BF listeners and it's a great yarn to boot. That could be a fun one.

Because we discussed this in another thread. Peter Grant and the Rivers of London series! This would be right up BFs alley and Ben Aaronovitch has already written for Big Finish. Having this on audio would be simply AMAZING. I love the series and the characters to bits.

There's two series that I would love to see Big Finish pick up the license for and be able to continue. The Fades and Being Human (the UK version, of course). Both are well within BF's wheelhouse. Being Human had a long enough run, but the story can continue; The Fades, however, was cut short waaaay too early, like many of BBC Three's best series. I don't normally even like horror, but I loved these two programmes.

Have you heard the audiobooks? Kobna Holdbrook-Smith is utterly brilliant as a reader, and all his voices are so distinct and perfect, it practically sounds like a full-cast audio drama.

There's even an audio exclusive story, set shortly after The Hanging Tree. It's called A Rare Book of Cunning Device, nothing major, but a fun little side case for Peter and Postmartin. Then there's the novella, The Furthest Station, which is really good, but easy to miss if you're only looking for the main novels.
The comic books/graphic novels are good too, written by Aaronovitch and some guy named Andrew Cartmel. One just started about Nightengale during the War.

Could something like The Stone Tapes be done as a purely audio story?

I've been re-reading the League of Extraordinary Gentleman graphic novels. I'm not sure if they would work in audio as half of the enjoyment is quite visual (spotting cameo appearances by famous literary characters, etc), but they could be great fun if they did.

So far I have none of the audio stuff, but I got all the novels and the novella... plus a few of the comics. But I just don't think the comics are as good as the novels to be honest...
