“The Empire is lost. The Deathless Emperors are dead. The future may never happen. An urgent summons returns the noble Doctor to a planet he saved from disaster long ago. But Draconia, so elegant and so savage, is in worse turmoil than ever. Who will be next Emperor? The highest Prince? The lowest peasant? The soldier with no name? Or the Doctor himself – his life at their command? Who controls the army of deadly origami warriors? And is the truth about Charley painted on paper walls in the Emperor’s tomb? History is taking revenge on the Doctor.”
Draconian Politics and funeral rights with lots of political intriguing. Its always an enjoyable listen i think because Marc Platt really expands Draconian Empire.I mean we only got to see them once on television and i remember the impact they mad on me back as a kid then makeup was so good. There are some wonderful audio visual moments for the imagination with references to some Japanese culture. We continue on with the Mila/Charley story (always left me that wee bit confused that one). But all on all i love this story.

I haven't heard this for a while, but I should. I remember enjoying it, as I enjoy the vast majority of Marc Platt's stuff. I liked it because the Charley 'arc' was minimal and we were able instead to concentrate on the story. Thew Draconians and their Samurai-type codes of conduct was very interesting and looking back, quite a logical progression for the race. Lots of good acting and sound design, and nice to hear from Sarah Crowe in her one and only Big Finish (so far). A really good, underrated story.
