Interesting. That’s a very interesting approach in having just the one story.
And the name sounds like something that could have come straight out of the early ‘70s.

Gorgeous cover and glad that we’re finally getting a seven parter, or indeed something longer than four parts with the Third Doctor. Not a massive fan of Nick Briggs’s writing, but I remain cautiously optimistic.

(sees who's writing it, decides not to pre-order it) In my case, sees who is writing it and hopes that it'll be as good as The Conquest of Far... as that's my favourite 3DA so far.

Don’t know about you but after re reading the story description, I’m getting a very Quatermass vibe from this.

Really looking forward to this. A 7-parter! Liz! The Brigadier! I'm glad to see that BF is really making use of the three-disc boxset format.
And to be released in my birthday month as well... I can't wait.

Seriously? Can't claim to be enthused by the prospect of a Briggs written audio, but it might be a b-movie style wonder (a la Dark Eyes) and I hope there are more seven parters to come.

Briggs is a hit-or-miss writer but damn is that cover incredible! Honestly, Ryan Aplin has serious competition all of a sudden as my favorite BF cover artist!

Also, does anybody know how the hell they're gonna pull off a 7-parter? 2 parts per disc works easily but unless episodes get split across discs or three of the episodes are rather short I don't know how it'll work.

I think the story, the length of the story, the era... all of it sounds right up my alley. Yes, Nick briggs has written some of the worst audios known to mankind. But he also has written one of my all time favorites, Dark Eyes. When he nails it, he really nails it. I just decided I will be optimistic today. Looking at this with a scientific mind: It is statistically unlikely he will mess up everything he does from now on.

I honestly don’t know. Maybe 4 episodes on one disc, 3 on another with one final disc for all the behind the scenes stuff?

That should fit on 3 disks. But I think they will have to do it by tracks on disks, so they space out all 7 parts evenly on 3 disks.

I’d assume it’ll be a 3-3-1 part split, with the last disc having special features and music suite to distribute the timings evenly. I don’t think it’s an issue, just that they’ll have to be more conscious at hitting the 25 minute running times more than previously. Some of the Early Years have been the length of six parters dressed as a four parter, for example.

Seriously? Of course... Nick Briggs writes that era very well. The Conquest of Far is a very good Third Doctor story, I love it. So yeah, I do hope The Annihilators turns out to be just as good...

CDs can actually fit a maximum of 80 minutes per disc, so if it's split 3/2/2, that gives the first disc at most 26 minutes 40 seconds per part. It'll be proper 25-minute episodes, like in the old days.
