I think Shallactop nailed it on the head for The War Factory. I really enjoyed all of it, but a 2nd part could have made this amazing. I think Lizzie Hopley has really found her writing feet lately, and I’m glad to see her name so frequently as she is good at jumping between ranges and styles.
Also… BAMBERA IS BACK BABY

What’s happened to Colonel Shindi?

Poor Kate goes through the wringer in Ten Minutes in Hell! A really great performance from Jemma and a nice rapport with Susie Emmett as Worrall. I’m enjoying this new variant of the UNIT team more than the one from the original run, to be honest. It’s nice that Josh has come into his own more (although they do seem to forget he’s half Auton!), Jimmy is a great new addition and they all gel together. I like Shindi and Sam, but their fleeting and inconsistent appearances are to their detriment.
Overall another great set. Intrigued to see where we go next, particularly given the clues seeded throughout Ten Minutes in Hell.

Yep, this was a helluva performance from Jemma Redgrave, and I think it was one of the most of edge of the seat listens I've had from Big Finish. As someone who loves this new team, but does love Sam and Shindi, I do hope we can see them guest in one of the next two boxsets!

Another strong entry in the New Series UNIT strand of box sets and two volumes into this arc I feel like UNIT is doing the big epic 4 box set arc better than the 8th Doctor range has in years. I’ll echo the Lizzie Hopley comments upthread, she really has hit a groove in her writing. The only episode I had an issue with was Power of the Dominators where I felt that the listening to the TV report at the start went on way, way too long. Once the team got in place the episode flowed nicely with some good chuckle out loud gags. Also Mark Bonnar has gotten so good at switching between incarnations that it is a seamless transition. And yes, Bambera!

Just finished this. Well, I think this was not quite as good and as fresh as the previous set. Still, this is a big and loud action blockbuster full of explosions and breathless fights. Mixed in with some torture porn for Kate Steward. I really have to say, in the early UNIT sets, I found Kate Steward a bit boring and somehow too detached and analytical. However, the performance has improved a lot, and it helps that the actress gets some real meat and bones here to chew through. And you can hear that she relishes it. The only breather episode is the one with the Dominators, which is more of a comedy outing, but even that picks up the pace. Certainly, there is no fault with the writing, pacing and the performance in this. And sound effects are also top notch. The Eleven works perfectly, and is less the sometimes annoying nuisance of the 8th Doctor sets and more of an unhinged but still very dangerous threat. I kind of missed some more quiet and personal character moments, but the story just is not really about that at all. As I said, it is more of a action blockbuster with lots of explosions.

You know, now that you mention it, I actually do rather like Attack of the Cybermen ...

What’s happened to Colonel Shindi? I was about to post that very question. Anyone know an answer?

What’s happened to Colonel Shindi? I was about to post that very question. Anyone know an answer? It has to be another of those “time jump” events a la Harry and Naomi (also - where’s the second Osgood? Unless we’re now pre-Zygon Invasion Inversion).

Just finished this set. I was going to go straight to the third set, thinking that was going to be the end of this sequence. I then noticed that the 4th set comes out March 2023. So, I think I'll give this UNIT a break for a bit before diving back in. The 11 does get to be a bit much. After getting a new taste of Brigadier Winifred Bambera, maybe I should go to their series.
This was quite intense, especially John Dorney's piece finishing it. After the credits came up, I thought his name definitely fit the emotions involved.
