A. I don’t think that’s how their relationship with the BBC works at all. B. Iirc Nick’s literally said (in a podcast I believe) that concept of Bradley and rest of Adventure in Space and Time cast were approached before Twice Upon a Time even aired. C. A random Twitter account that spends 90% of its time directly attacking Big Finish on Twitter or complaining about various derivatives of ‘woke’ is precise opposite of a reliable source.

Yeah, I think it's well known that Big Finish wanted to use David Bradley in some capacity as soon as AAISAT aired. Either doing the range as it currently exists, or adapting a novel, etc. I think it was Twice Upon A Time that gave them the green light, either through David Bradley's availability or the perception from him going from playing William Hartnell to playing the Doctor.
Personally, I think it's a range that ends up being a bit weird due to that transition from Hartnell to the Doctor. I personally would've gone the whole hog and embraced him as the Doctor by either forging a new era of sorts with original companions or paired him with the likes of William Russell, Carole Ann Ford, Peter Purves, etc. As it stands, it's inspired by the recreations in AAISAT but released in a time where we've gone beyond AAISAT with Bradley.
It's part of the reason I'm disappointed by the decision to go with someone else and keep Bradley in the AAISAT range, although I appreciate there may be other factors involved. The other disappointment is because I don't think Noonan sounded very good at all, but I'll form my complete opinion once The Outlaws is released. Ultimately it's all subjective, the clip seems to have worked for a lot of people and equally not worked for many others.
I agree that recasting is the way forward if you want further adventures from these TARDIS teams, as other media doesn't devote itself to past eras in the way Big Finish do. Having said that, it does seem a shame that there are still original cast members out there who seemingly don't have a place with Big Finish now, with no Early Years or Companion Chronicles on the horizon and BF presumably wanting to forge on with the Doctor and Dodo for at least a couple of sets. This set / announcement is perhaps the most drastic recast case we've had so far.

Hmmmmmm, just listen to this and what’s up with the audio quality, it sounds terrible…….. It's supposed to recreate the sound of an old telly for the teaser (which, of course, David Burgess did an amazing job with)........... well it didn't work for me......stupid idea

I mean, there are a number of reasons why that’s wrong. I wrote Invention of Death (for Bradley) in something like November 2016, which is a good year before Twice Upon a Time came out (and it was obviously in the planning for several months before that). Nick was very involved, most obviously as a director, which would be an odd choice if he wasn’t interested. And I don’t think that’s how contracts work with actors at BF. Whoever his ‘people in the know’ are, they’re not massively well informed.

D. Maybe but I heard things about Briggs. But why would you trust unverified 'people' on the internet over someone who actually works at BF? Even BF's own track record as a company should ask questions of this rumour (why would they stick with someone they really don't like when they had no qualms jettisoning the likes of Roberts, Dreyfuss, Barrowman and others for a comparable, and often more serious, reason?)
According to 'people' online, Jodie Whittaker rubbed onions in a little girl's eyes on Children In Need. Not something you should be so trusting in, I think.

Twitter accounts that exist solely to troll are not news outlets, and do not have inside sources. They are, simply, troll accounts. Please keep this thread on subject, thank you.

I'm not a fan of Nick's and do not agree with how he handles some situations and treats some of those who politely voice their dislike of BF products, but starting a channel just to trash him is pointless. Behaving like that has no chance for a positive outcome.

Although, I think the majority of us could quite easily come up with far more interesting and fulfilling ways to spend ones time.

Iirc Nick’s literally said (in a podcast I believe) that concept of Bradley and rest of Adventure in Space and Time cast were approached before Twice Upon a Time even aired. I'm pretty sure that he was banging on about the idea of casting them in the podcast years before it happened, so I can't beleive he ws forced into it. On the other hand,it's quite plausible that once things got going he decided he didn't like Bradley's performance. We have to assume there's something about Peter Purves and Fraser Hines's Doctors that somebody at BF isn't keen on, after all. I found his discussion in the latest podcast about the new actor's range very interesting, about how he's tried hard to match Hartnell's changing voice and mood. I can't help think (rather like his talking about Fraser Hines's best performance is when he's only playing Jamie in The Annihilatrs) that he might be trying over-hard to convince a sceptical audience.... I am strtuck by how different the new first Doctor sounds in the podcast clip to the video... in the video he's got the voice-patterns but his voice is a painful screech; in the podcast, he's barely Hartnellesque at all. This may be one of those wait-and-see things, but while I'm open to the idea of the overall affect being OK, I'm not rushing out to pre-order.

To me this all stems from the experiment that was the Third Doctor Adventures range with Tim Treloar as 3. And again we circle back around to the business end of BF. After successfully recasting the Third Doctor, it just makes sense they would travel backwards to recast 1 & 2. If you want a true full cast production you don’t want one actor playing two of the leads. I suppose time will tell if we end up getting two different strands of the First Doctor, one with Bradley and one with the new fella we will know where the truth of everything lies but again from a business perspective Big Finish would want an actor who is committed to playing the role on a regular basis and is available when they need him. I doubt there is any ill will directed towards either Hines or Purves or their skills but rather an acknowledgement that Big Finish’s plans for the future ranges dedicated to each Doctor & their respective eras changed.

We should at least acknowledge the fact that Big Finish also has the option of branching out more beyond Doctor Who. There's no reason they have to maintain this level of output in perpetuity. One might even argue that, given the success of audiobooks in recent years, Big Finish's fixation on licensed media is the biggest thing holding them back for a much larger, broader audience. Or at least one of the biggest things. Availability is likely a big issue, too. D. Maybe but I heard things about Briggs. Okay, just to momentarily veer off topic... I want to highlight this comment briefly. This is precisely why it's such a bad idea to engage critics directly. When Briggs gets petty and confrontational with his critics on Twitter, that creates affects his public perception. If you act unprofessionally, people are going to be much more willing to believe--even entirely unfounded--other accusations of unprofessional or otherwise questionable behavior.

At the end of the day Briggs is the boss. It's inevitable that some of his decisions won't be popular. It's part of the deal.

I still Think back to The Regen Reviews incident which certainly didn't do any favors for him and was kinda eye opening
anyway back on the topic of The Outlaws Boxset i ordered it last year thinking it was a David Bradley box set, ill give it a shot if its good i will continue with it if its awful ill save money by not bothering with the range and only get the Special Occasional DB Boxsets

I've noticed something interesting...
I was rewatching The War Machines earlier today and I noticed that Hartnell sounds very different in this story to how he does in, say, An Unearthly Child.
Noonan is a lot closer to War Machines Hartnell than the earlier stories, and I feel like this is intentional - the new boxset is, after all, set during 1's travels with Dodo.
It's interesting that Nick mentioned on the podcast how Hartnell's voice could vary quite a lot, so I think one's interpretation of Noonan's First Doctor is dependent on which tv episodes they're comparing it to.

To me, the performance is dead on. He doesn’t sound an awful lot like Hartnell but like, neither does anyone else who’s played the First Doctor since.
So I’d rather Noonan sound like the First Doctor but not Hartnell; than Bradley sounding like neither the First Doctor nor Hartnell and I say that with all the love in the world David Bradley.

It's worth noting Bradley has never been the only First Doctor at Big Finish. The First Doctor Adventures ran alongside the Early Adventures, and there was constant talk in interviews, extras, etc that Bradley and the others were not doing impressions but rather playing the characters in their own way. The new First Doctor and Second Doctor material seems to be replacing the Early Adventures range, so a more impression-like recast is appropriate. (I hope we might still get EAs in the future as I really loved those and didn't mind the lack of full cast at all, but I understand the sales were probably lower and actor availability is getting more difficult.) My point is that I don't think this is meant to be booting out Bradley so much as doing another, separate project with a different approach.
