Featuring 8th Doctor
On the 14th of August 3097, everything is fine on the world of Gernica. Except, on the same day, the planet is being destroyed. Also, on the 14th of August 3097, no one in the universe has heard of Gernica. The planet’s only chance to survive the horrors of the Time War lies with Viola Wintersmith. For Viola has a weapon that can destroy anything that stands in her way. A weapon that requires a unique form of ammunition. Her past.

Wasn’t a big lover of this one, sadly. I think it’s clear the framing device was the driving factor, with a very slight and hollow story built around it. And I wasn’t keen on Adele Anderson’s reading; I like her as Tamasan, but 40 minutes of solid prose is too much.

I have to disagree with you Shallactop on all of those points, but so is life sometimes! I thought the framing device supported a really nice and smaller scale Time War story that was painted in a great shade of grey. And Adele Anderson was on par with Matthew Waterhouse for best performance in the set tbh. I think Alfie Shaw really nailed his two stories for the set!

That was an okay dip into the Time War. It took a while for me to really click what was going on and Anderson’s narration did seem a bit flat. I did appreciate the ending though.

I thought this was a terrific story. It uses the idea of time and lived experience in a unique way, and shows that the Time War touched and corrupted everything and everyone that was caught up in it. I also disagree with you nay-sayers regarding Anderson. I thought she did a fine job narrating this. She is not one of the stable of narrators that BF usually use, so that may be why some people didn't seem to like it, but I thought it was nice having a new voice. I'm also a big fan of the Short Stories, so maybe I'm just inclined to enjoy it. 5/5 from me.

I liked Adele Anderson narrating this story. I thought she was a good choice, since she’s Tamasan & this was a Time War story. The story of Viola & the weapon was chilling. And the opening paragraphs of how 3 versions of Gernica’s reality could exist at the same time illustrates how the Time War affects everything.
