News! Fan favourite Alex Kingston stars once again as ‘child of the TARDIS’ and time-travelling archaeologist, Professor River Song, in four exciting new adventures. She encounters royalty, killer robots and her own, occupied tomb – then, in the final story, River is reunited in the digital afterlife with Proper Dave, last seen in 2008’s TV Doctor Who episode, Forest of the Dead. Harry Peacock reprises the role of pilot-turned-data-ghost Dave, now living in a virtual reality at the heart of a planet-sized library in the 51st century. Something is wrong with the world’s datacore and he and River will need to work together to protect it or face total extinction. Product pageProfessor River Song returns in four new adventures. She encounters royalty, killer robots and her own, occupied tomb, before being reunited in the digital afterlife with Proper Dave. Hmm. Pleased about the release but not happy about the retrospective bundle - you can buy series 9 & 10 together at a discount. Loyal customers who have already forked out for series 9 instead have to pay full price for both. Not a huge amount of money involved, but in principle it's not a good way to treat customers

Really up for this. Nice to go back to the standalone, self-contained stories with River and any returning elements directly relate to her. Lovely variety of writers too.
I’ve long suggested a set with the Library crew prior to the events of Silence in the Library, but to do something post-Forest of the Dead is interesting and of course capitalises on the ending of that story. Alex’s quotes are intriguing, about an opportunity for a spin-off and also River and Proper Dave reuniting with other Library characters.

Ooh now that’s the first time in a while that a River Song release has genuinely intrigued me. A new territory for the character which I wouldn’t have thought Big Finish would explore.

Well well well if it isn't Ray Purchase himself? Will Colin Salmon appear so Big Finish can canonize Steven Moffat's theory that... ...he's the data ghost of a far future Doctor?

I know his character was specifically mentioned not to have been saved but considering the setting of the Library I actually think it would be a neat chance to get Steve Pemberton into a Big Finish. Naturally, with the possibility of him playing other roles for them in the future.
And honestly I’d put money on River and Dave having to somehow enlist the help of the Vashta Nerada who are currently infesting the outside world to help save their new virtual existence.

Completely unexpected but sure why not I think river meeting her deceased future self is not a good idea as it creates a continuity issue (mind you with the state of Doctor who These days continuity means squat) Had no idea that other Dave was Ray bloody purchase that’s kinda cool I think Colin salmon is suffering from long covid so I don’t know if he will be making an appearance I wonder if they will have the same child actor to play the kid in silence of the library)

There is a neat little bit in the DORS VOl 10 Announcement:
“Plus, there’s an opportunity to have another very interesting spin-off from this storyline – that's all I’m going to say.”
Wonder if there is another spin off in the works at Big Finish?

I think river meeting her deceased future self is not a good idea as it creates a continuity issue Had the same thought initially then realized that River finding her own tomb seems to be in a different story from the data ghost afterlife one! What if her tomb is where her real body is buried? We don't know what happened to that... And as long as she isn't made aware of any details of her death, that seems okay to me.

Hmm... I dropped out of the River Song range a while back (for a few reasons), but this one might be enticing me back in?

Love the nod to River’s sonic on the cover; that was such a good twist in Forest of the Dead. I don’t think we knew about the Autons previously, as I remember the original announcement feeling quite refreshing from returning elements. They’re not used a great deal, so curious to see how they are on audio, but a touch unfortunate it’s so close to their reappearance in Forty!
Still, lovely variety of writers and very much looking forward to the set.
