When Tom Baker and David Tennant are spontaneously Trending and BF DON'T Release Out of Time! Regards mark687 The strangest thing is they didn’t capitalise on it at all. Just mentioned they’re trending and left it at that. Of course, the replies put 2 & 2 together, but Big Finish don't...

I somehow get the impression the social media intern needs a raise.

Signs you aren't addicted to Big Finish (Yes I know but there is no such thread - is there? - so I gatecrashed this one )
The imminent end of the MR has also ended my completionist tendencies. In the last few months there have been a few sets which once I would certainly have pre-ordered, but now have let pass by.
When (AFAIK) there will soon be no ranges which appear more than twice a year* and unexpected releases can and do pop up here and there seemingly at random, I'm getting increasingly picky and choosy. I think I'll soon be buying more DLs than CDs (oh the apostasy!!) since I only insist on CDs for ranges which are history or soon will be, like the MR or J&L, or are now infrequent like Benny, the 3DAs, CCs, EAs and LS. Anything else I may collect as DL, or a wild mixture of both formats (like the 8DAs for example.)
So now the MR Three Doctors are moving into standalone sets, they too will become candidates for DL (by this personal logic.) Which also means there's no push to pre-order, P&P (still free for UK customers on pre-orders) isn't a consideration and DLs can't go OOP and will be in some future sale... and if the comments on here are "5* standout, how did we live without this amazing release?!!" well, the DL will still be there at the pre-order price for a while...
I wonder how many other listeners will buy less (or at least no more) BF on release rather than more as the long-run ranges fade into history?
I know that's the exact opposite of what the move to boxsets was intended to achieve, but still I do wonder?
On the plus side for my personal BF 'journey', there's lots of enticing new releases already announced which I definitely am buying and no doubt many more to come, so I'm still "addicted to Big Finish". But in a more picky-choosy way.
(*The STs will still be monthly but I bailed out of those a while back because imo 2019's run simply wasn't at the high standard of all previous years.)

I'm with you. For some reason the box sets don't excite the same collector instinct for me. I think I'll be a little more selective in future as well.

Hi.
I'm Mike.
I'm addicted to Big Finish.
I realized that today, when I stared into the eyes of Eric Roberts (on the 'Master!' cover) for 3 hours without a break.
Please, God...someone help me...

When you get so bored at work that you start writing a (very) rough outline for a Christmas-themed 'Torchwood' anthology boxset that you know will never get made...

When you get so bored at work that you start writing a (very) rough outline for a Christmas-themed 'Torchwood' anthology boxset that you know will never get made... Sounds interesting. Is there a pantomime themed story in there? I hadn't really put toooooo much thought into it, but there's probably space for it. My main 'inspiration' for it was that Benny is getting her own series of Christmas-themed shorts next month and I wondered what a 'Torchwood' Christmas would look like... My brain being my brain, I started over-thinking it and came up with a (very) rough idea of how I could potentially see it going... 6x30 (like The Worlds Of Big Finish) with a loose arc throughout, similar to "Santa's Claw" for main-range DW last year. I haven't put too much thought into the specifics, but I was thinking: Part 1 - 2006. Intro episode with the 'full' Cardiff team, Jack recognises the threat from somewhere/when else. Monologues to himself at the end about the bigger impact. 2 - Victorian Era Torchwood. (Pseudo?)-historical, maybe revolving around an assassination plot on Queen Victoria (because who can say no to more of her?) 3 - Yvonne & Torchwood London (no idea about the specifics, but -) 4 - No idea for this one, but maybe something to do with the 'Satan Pit' era Torchwood, or, if "we're" legally allowed to, maybe something directly (or indirectly) involving the Doctor? 5 - Norton & Mr Lyme 6 - Older Gwen in a care home at Christmas. Jack visits her and tells her the story of how he stopped the arc threat. Not perfect or too deep in detail, but, of course, that I only really gave it twenty-odd minutes between various jobs and customers...
