You know, now that you mention it, I actually do rather like Attack of the Cybermen ...

I had not downloaded material for a while and was surprised I had not yet downloaded this. I listened to this over three different days, taking some time between each part to savor the cliffhanger.
The main part of this story was quite interesting and well done.
The whole skipping through time and multiple 5th Doctors and the reason behind it all was quite confusing and I think there may be eggs without chickens or vice versa. I am not confident that all holds up.
Still, overall along with the first collection was a fun celebration of the 5th Doctor.

I had ZERO interest in buying this release. I still have zero interest in Forty 1. But all these positive reviews have swayed me. It sounds as if Davison is giving all in this story and I love it when the actors pour their souls into these stories. And Davison can be utterly brilliant when he plays an intense and emotional version of "boring old 5". So I am going to give it a go.

I think it's fairly easy to enjoy this one without listening to the first set, all you need to know is that early season 19 Fifth Doctor has been jumping into his future self's, first with Tegan and Nyssa not long after Adric's death and then going back to a time with Adric, Nyssa and Tegan. Forty 2 does get a little confusing with all the timelines but it's still a lot of fun celebrating 40 years of Fifth Doctor. Hope you enjoy.

Finished the story. It was a nice entertaining story, with lots of action, and we get some Earth as well as space scenes. It was fun listening to it, even if parts were a bit confusing because of the time jumps.
Also nice, to see the Brigadier again, and also having a re-match with the Master (which involved the Brig). I thought the acting was very well done and Davison really is amazing and gives 110% in this. However, I do not think it was perfect and this release, while fun and entertaining, did not reach "best 2022 releases" for me. The "individualistic " Autons were a weird choice and just did not really come together for me. And the real actual goal of the Master still eludes me, besides his usual making a nuisance out of himself and getting into trouble for making over-complicated non-sensical plans.

I agree, he does a good Ainley here. Better than in Masterful IMO.

That's good cause even though I didn't think it was terrible I thought it could've used a bit more improvement in masterful.

I ordered this and I'm sure I'll enjoy it either way but I was wondering is the master written more pantomime or more like he was in survival?

To me he feels like Ainley’s personality but more of Delgado’s planning and plotting. But that could just be the fact that the set is very much riffing on 3’s era

Oh I quite like that but yea even tho there's some charm to ainleys pantomime I was hoping there wasn't too much so that's good.
