Are you sure RTD really liked it? A 10 year old's fantasy?
Yikes.
RTD could unironically like that the centenary has many classic era callbacks, because then he would not feel obligated to do so for his own following celebrations. I know some fans who are still angry at Day of the Doctors because it did not have enough of them. On a side note, having Peri does not really surprise me: I expect most of the classic doctors to cameo one way or another with one of their companion (Tegan for Five and Ace for Seven), so it would be either Peri or Mel. What I wonder is if she is on Earth or not in this story? (I'm confident that Chibnall did not keep up with Big Finish and its Piscon Paradox revelations or post-Yrcanos audios) The caveat of this theory is who Chibnall could use for Eight as Disney are not likely to play ball with the TVMovie rights. Ohila, maybe? It’s Universal that own the rights to the TV Movie.

So it seems that Nicola Bryant might be back for The Centenary special Is there a particular reason for this belief? Peri would at least be the easiest to reconcile with Big Finish, as Piscon Paradox didn’t specify every Peri variant that’s out there courtesy of the Time Lord meddling.

From what I heard, basically every classic companion they can get is coming back for the centenary.

Peri would at least be the easiest to reconcile with Big Finish, as Piscon Paradox didn’t specify every Peri variant that’s out there courtesy of the Time Lord meddling. Apparently Sophie Aldred mentioned some things that she is doing for the special (there is one stunt, the character of Ace is primarily based on the Recent novel that came out) she didn’t name anyone but mentioned that one of the scenes is with 5 people (which apparently might be the scene in the trailer with Tegan on the phone with Kate and two other people which I suspect is Peri and Jo Grant)

With classic companions returning (and if rumours are to be believed, classic Doctors) I wonder if the centenary is going to be considered the Classic 60th celebration with RTD’s episode(s) focusing more on celebrating New Who?

RTD wraps up his DWM piece hyping up the centenary special-
“there’s a bigger story to come. The countdown to the magnificent Jodie’s final episode. And my old mate Chris Chibnall makes me look like a fool when it comes to publicity - how much do you know about that finale. Nothing! Oh, you got a glimpse or two in the preview at Easter, but believe me, you know so little. Get set to be rocked.”

Anyone confirm this? How would RTD know? As incoming showrunner the question should be how would he not know? I’m sure he had input into the final moments of the special as well as writing the post-re/degeneration scene which will close the special out. That is standard and should not surprise anyone.

Meanwhile, we have Vinay Patel's new sci-fi project, and it's quite a doozy.
And it seems, Who had a part in it.

From what I heard, basically every classic companion they can get is coming back for the centenary. So, I got thinking: if that's true, could that mean at last... Susan? Seeing Jodie and Carol hug would... can't deny, would hit the feels.
Maybe, just spitballing this: Swarm or Tecteun boobytrap the watch so it cancels out regeneration and kills 13 when she gets her memories. As she's dying in that big orange-red blaze from the trailer, maybe she sees a vision of Susan who tells her she has to go on. Maybe she even calls back to 12's be kind speech, with something like 'We can't always be kind, we make mistakes Grandmother, but can always chose, even if it hurts, to do good'. Given Chibnall and RTD like speechifying, could get a nod to the real world and how, in these uncertain times, people need someone to look out for them, be the hope when all is gone and through that, she turns into Tennant and into the 60th we go.

Not sure where else to put, but it’s about Janet Fielding since she will be in the Centenary special.
She recently had the norovirus according to her Twitter feed.

On The One Show, RTD just said he saw the finished special two days ago. He described it as a 90 minute epic, with a lot of surprises.

‘Won’t cover in September after all’ being code for ‘random Twitter user who said they were and was believed by some for no reason turned out to be wrong’.
Who Twitter is frustrating sometimes.

Oh dear.
Sherlock, I'm afraid that as far as your Twitter person jumping to conclusions is concerned, you're jumping to conclusions.
My subscriber special of the new SFX (out in newsagents in a few days) clearly states "In the next issue / Doctor Who / The moment has been prepared for".
Who Forums are frustrating sometimes.

That tallies with what I saw online this Morning, however, DWM which is not due for 2 more weeks had 0 mention of it due to feature in Next Issue Preview page of the current Issue. Either way another odd PR choice. Regards mark687

My subscriber special of the new SFX (out in newsagents in a few days) clearly states "In the next issue / Doctor Who / The moment has been prepared for". Who Forums are frustrating sometimes. But due to the nature of magazine lead times SFX have made the assumption that the Centenary would be an early October transmission so made space in their September issue. As it stands, they’ve gone to the BBC and have been denied any access, as it doesn’t fit with their marketing plans. Not defending the marketing approach from the BBC, but it’s very much assumptions on SFX’s side and impatience, which Darren Scott has admitted to himself. Ultimately they’ve pressed ahead with a feature without securing the content and it’s bitten them. Appreciate what you’re saying, but the tweet in question is having a dig when it’s not warranted. Substitute the “random Twitter user” for “Darren Scott” in sherlock’s post and he’s not entirely wrong.

Listening to the latest episode of Radio Free Skaro they discussed this website cybusindustries.org/ which was counting down to something. Now there has been a rather intriguing YouTube video released. I wonder if this could be related to the centenary special (or maybe the 60th)?

Now there has been a rather intriguing YouTube video released. I wonder if this could be related to the centenary special (or maybe the 60th)? I think that’s a fan project. The fake Cybus Twitter account associated with that website has included photoshops featuring photos of Elon Musk and Jeff Bevos and very obvious political satire, which I don’t think any official BBC marketing department could do. Its very good though.
