I was just at work talking about what the golden era of TV was for each of us and i always think of this show as very special to me. The one show ever that i have managed to watch each episode on the first day of transmission.
Anyway, its been two years now since "The Promised Land" and i haven't heard about what the next step is going to be.
Is anyone more informed than me?
Does anyone else love the Crimson small one?

I think it’s currently in hiatus at the moment because of some legal battle between the series two original creators.
As you can probably tell, I’m not exactly that well informed either.

I know they were doing some live performances for a little while, but I don't think there's been anything announced since The Promised Land...
Always down for more Red Dwarf though, if and when it happens.

On a side-note, does anyone think we will get a Blu-Ray release of the remastered versions of Series 1-3? I would love to check them out and review them, and check out the exclusive documentaries on there.

I personally wouldn’t mind if Big Finish made audios set during series 7. They could even made audio adaptations of the Red Dwarf novels.

Yeah, I'd like to see (I cannot seem to stop using that verb) Red Dwarf on audio. I honestly think that's the better fit, or best destiny for the show... if it's going to continue. But also... I don't know that I think it should continue. Red Dwarf is a comedy show, and like many comedies, it's working with a premise that is only amusing in certain contexts. (If you read much manga, this is a problem neurodivergent comedies hit constantly.) Basically: at a certain point it just becomes too sad to laugh at.
And I think Red Dwarf hit that point the moment Lister's hair turned gray.
At that point you can't really ignore the cruelty and loneliness of the premise. Or at least I can't.
And then there's the incongruity of older actors portraying much younger, immature characters. Which just makes things worse: Rimmer and Lister etc. haven't changed at all in 30-ish years. That's not funny, that's pathetic. Modern Red Dwarf is hard for me to watch as anything more than an accidental tragedy.
Which is to say, audio dramas neatly avert all of these problems. I can definitely see myself excited for a Red Dwarf boxset from Big Finish... but another TV special? Not so much. I might watch it, I might not.

I reiterate my opinion - best ending was Rimmer blowing up the Time Drive and the ambiguous consequences thereafter.

I really loved seeing Rimmer in Star Wars: Andor. We need more crossover stuff in modern SF shows.
