Leela references a previous encounter with The Ice Warriors in Blackpool. Is this a previous adventure I've missed in another medium? No it’s just one of those references as far as I can tell to something unseen

I loved Ice Heist!. Nerys Hughes is wonderful as Margaret, but the real highlight of the story for me was Louise Jameson's Leela. A mate said it's Leela's best outing with the Fourth Doctor since Foe of the Future and I completely agree. She's written very faithfully, yet with a depth that doesn't feel at odds with her character or her overall arc from The Face of Evil through to The Invasion of Time. The pairing of Leela and Margaret is wonderful and I think also bring out the best in Tom. The Ice Warriors are probably their best served at Big Finish, save for glorified cameos in the Peladon set.
Very much looking forward to Antillia the Lost off the back of this.

Ice Hiest was a lot of fun, fits in well with the season 15 era, I loved the line about the Doctor taking on capitalism in the future, perfectly foreshadowing The Sun Makers.
For me Season 15 is a mixed bag, some outstanding stories with Horror of Fangrock, Image of the Fendahl and The Sun Makers, but also some really mediocre stories with The Invisible Enemy, Underworld and Invasion of Time. Ice Heist feels like the kind of story that's perfect for transitioning from Hinchcliffe era towards early Williams era.
It's fun but not silly or lightweight, it has behind the sofa moments that would have thrilled families in the 70s without making Mary Whitehouse froth at the mouth too much.
Well done Guy Adams and Tardis team 4th Doctor, Leela and Margaret.

Antillia the Lost, really enjoyed this one. Tom's fantastic in this one too, the story is really interesting, the concept of the failures is reminiscent of Greel in Talons. I've seen some negative reviews online for this story,I can't understand why,it kept me engaged and while not the most original it was still fun. My favourite line is was "I'd offer you a jelly baby but I don't think you deserve one" 4/5

Best Leela release since The Lost Stories for me, and an entertaining Ice Warriors story to boot! Nerys Hughes is superb but then she is nothing less than fine in anything I've seen/heard her in, and it makes for an interesting perspective on Leela's character allowing her to say/do things the Doctor won't entertain. Heres to the next set!

Loved Antillia the Lost. Margaret is a revelation. Not just a rounded character and a lovely performance from Nerys Hughes, but the way she revitalises my interest in Leela and her dynamic with the Doctor. Can’t wait for the next set!

Sometimes when I listen to a story I don't particularly love, I imagine I'm probably just not in the right mood for it. There may come a time when I listen to Ice-Heist again and enjoy every minute of it; as it is, I found it a bit flat. Some fairly novel things were done with the Ice Warriors, but away from their bulkily impressive visuals, they're just not that interesting. And with all due respect, when voiced once again by the same actor, they're just Nick Briggs. Over-familiarity.
However, I loved Antillia the Lost a lot. It's served by some really great voices on top of some terrific acting. The characters were never black and white - everyone had shades of grey about them, making the heroes and villains closer than they might otherwise be. Tom's on top form here, veering from silly to imperious, and I finally gelled with Margaret - until now, I found her too similar to Evelyn, but in this story, while not my favourite addition to the regular cast, I liked her more than ever. A wonderful, strange, creepy story. I'll be playing this one again pretty soon, I think.

Ice Heist…..a four-parter that I would have enjoyed much more as a three-parter but still always entertaining. Guy Adams channels a lot of Douglas Adams and I had several good chuckles. Tom Baker is on fine form. Still, it just felt a little padded out.

Antillia the Lost….is a blast. Lost Horizon meets H.G. Welles & Jules Verne. A fun romp that hits all the right notes. A very good introductory box set for this TARDIS trio.

Loved Ice heist - Tom was on top form. Really is a wonderful match with Lou Jameson....I never understand the criticism that they do too much as a team, they elevate each other massively. Tom is never as playful with someone else. Wonderful to finally have Nerys on board and travellin, YEARS after it was announced.I liked the factional Ice Warriors, nice subversion of them always as loyal to their race.

Listened to Ice Heist! I liked it a lot, it was very classic Who but with the lead characters just written perfectly. The secondary characters were solid (except I’m just not a fan of Briggs’ Ice Warriors, they’re his weak spot in monster voices), but the focus here was on Leela, Margaret and the Doctor - all of whom shined. Leela had great depth, I thought Margaret was great and 4 had some truly delightful very true-to-character lines.
I try to listen to everything twice before removing the download from my app and look forward to my second listen as I was a little less focused at times than I’d want to be as some aspects of the plot blurred at points.
