I was really looking forward to this set, but now it’ll be a very bittersweet release.

His last few Big Finish audios will be a really hard listen. I'm truly lost for words.

I loved the dude. Even when I was a kid and didn’t know his name (or that he was Ra’s Al Ghul in Batman: The Animated Series), I loved the dude. Didn’t matter if it was a great project or a sh—y project. A major role or a thankless two minute walk-on bit part. Dude always gave a terrific performance.
He was on my shortlist for actors that I wanted to play The Doctor someday. The day I discovered that he had already recorded some audios as The Doctor, and indeed was still making them, was like f—ing Christmas.
RIP to a legend. And my condolences to Lisa and the rest of his loved ones.

RIP. It's very sad that the iconic David Warner has passed.
Given that Big Finish dramas are generally recorded well in advance of their release, I suppose it's possible there will be another set in this range featuring him that hasn't been announced yet.

The day of, I had no words. Today I will try to say something.
David Warner really helped to define my childhood. Baldur's Gate 2 was the first game I really became obsessed with. I spent hundreds of hours with it as a kid, and so much of the appeal there was just how cool of a villain Irenicus was. And then he'd also pop up in cartoons (like Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy and the various Batmans), nevermind his brief but enormously impactful role as Gorkon in Star Trek VI -- a role he reprised for Klingon Academy, another old game I fell desperately in love with as a kid.
It was only relatively recently -- just one or two years ago, no earlier than 2020, certainly -- that I learned David Warner was also involved in Doctor Who -- playing the Doctor himself, no less! I was ecstatic. I had never been more excited for anything Doctor Who-related than that moment, and probably never will again.
The New Adventures of Bernice Summerfield didn't really have to do much for me to enjoy it. But, goddamn, did it wind up being ten times better than it had any right to be. The pairing of Bowerman and Warner, and some really fantastic scripts, resulted in some of the finest storytelling this franchise has ever seen.
I think I've spoken before about my listening habits: I like to hold off. To wait for an appropriate moment, when I can fully savor the story. I wait for, shall we say... special occasions. I have been putting off listening to NABS 06: Lost in Translation for a very long time.
My intention was to listen to it on my birthday. A day I generally associate with unpleasant memories. It would have been a welcome distraction. Instead I decided to do a quick scroll through my Twitter feed before opening up the Big Finish app. I am still gutted.
Lost in Translation will have to wait a bit longer, I fear. It's gonna be a rough listen, that's for sure. Blood & Steel, too. I'm terribly unskilled at speaking, especially when speaking about anything that matters. But I really had to say something here. Or at least try.

Listening to the excerpt
Pre credits scene kinda feels like it should have been changed as it feels so soon for the main foe reveal David Warner vocally sounds different from previous volumes like his voice is more deeper and kinda strained

It’s heartbreaking how Ill and tired Warner sounds. I don’t think I can listen to it. final episode comment follows {Spoiler} I thought that maybe it was an artistic choice, suggesting that they were building up to/structuring in a “this body is getting old…” moment to introduce an Unbound 4th Doctor…. But no.

Just finished part 1, which I enjoyed, but yeah, David Warner did certainly sound a little... Gruffer than usual </3

Done Part 1 and oh the Cybermen really aren’t messing around this time. This is them at their simplest nastiest best and Warner’s fury matches the threat.

That one's gotta be in the running for an all-time best-trailer. It's been a while since I listened to the Unbound Universe stuff: I remember the Unbound Daleks (in Masters of War IIRC) but did the Doctor ever encounter Unbound Cybermen, too? It’s heartbreaking how Ill and tired Warner sounds. I don’t think I can listen to it. final episode comment follows {Spoiler}I thought that maybe it was an artistic choice, suggesting that they were building up to/structuring in a “this body is getting old…” moment to introduce an Unbound 4th Doctor…. But no. Yeah, it'll be a while before I listen to it, myself. Gonna be rough goin'. Re: that spoiler, I've gotta ask, does this set end w/ any sort of indication as to where NABS might go (or not go) next? I dunno about y'all, but part of me -- a large part, if I'm being honest -- would rather see this range end than continue without David Warner.

I’m not commenting with any info re the end, but while I’d like this strand of Benny’s life, I hope this isn’t the end of her adventures at Big Finish.

Final episode was really bittersweet I guess with the subject tone and the location very introverted finale Annoying stereotype character aside the cast of characters are good
Given we don’t know if the Warner Doctor will be in the 60th but as a ending to this Doctor it doesn’t feel like an ending
Obviously I think If they ever do Vol 8 it will likely have a Time skip With either Bernice on her own or with a Prime universe Doctor I seriously doubt they will recast or even regenerate Warner’s Doctor for a huge list of reasons

I can’t see Lisa wanting to continue with a regenerated Unbound Doctor…
