I also wonder who it was who gave this release a 1 out of 5. Really, I would like to hear from you. Was it the cruel brutality that turned you off? The dark and miserable setting? The use of the same old cybermen? "Boring Nazis, AGAIN?" Because it cannot be the writing. Or the characters. Or the research that went into this. Nor can it be the absolutely stunning performances. I think there’s someone that just goes around giving any new Big Finish poll a 1. I know Big Finish’s output this year has been a bit mixed for me but nothing that bad.

Always nice to have a hobby I suppose? 🤷♂️

One of those people who are in severe need of a) a new hobby and b) some serious growing up
Or maybe it is a Nazi. Or Cyberman. Also possible.

You know, now that you mention it, I actually do rather like Attack of the Cybermen ...

Can I listen to Blood and Steel without having heard any previous Bernice Summerfield stories?
I'm familiar with the character and unbound Doctor. The reviews for this are so good, I'm keen to get it while on sale.

Adding just one more voice to the praise. This is truly one of the greats; an absolute privilege to listen to.
Like Friend of the Family, this feels more like a prestige miniseries than a string of Doctor Who episodes.
It’s not light listening for so many reasons: - It’s set in 1930s Berlin, where nobody knows what’s around the corner. (Doctor: “There are some points in history where it hurts just to breathe the air.”) - It leans into the full horror of cyberconversion in a way Cybermen stories rarely do (and to an extent the TV series could never touch). - David Warner is audibly unwell (not that he’s anything less than outstanding, or brings anything less than his A-game).
…All of which make it so much more powerful and poignant in the hands of such outstanding writers, cast and crew. I’m so sad to see this wonderful series end, but so grateful it got to go out on an all-time high. Thank you David. Thank you everyone.

I am just a bit sad it did not get the attention it deserved, probably because it is not a fun, lighthearted release. It is not several known characters thrown together to do a happy run around with cybermen. No. This one is deadly serious and is not fooling around. Simply breathtaking and heartbreaking.
