Hello everyone! Wow! Maureen O'Brien working with Christopher Eccleston in a 'Doctor Who' audio by Big Finish! Yeah, it seems a shame she's not playing Vicki with the Ninth Doctor as that would be cool but...Wow! Maureen O'Brien working with Christopher Eccleston in a 'Doctor Who' audio by Big Finish! Tim

These are the most gorgeous DW covers I've ever seen. Caroline Tankersley deserves a huge heaping of praise for these!

Salvation Nine
The concept is so simple but done with such sincerity and CE has clicked with it.
Really enjoyable tale.

Break the Ice
How to sum this one. Powerful overall, and affirming in the end, but its a journey to there. not that its bad by any means, but at times its raw. so prepare yourselves, I could see it working as something you could listen at the time of year its set. but honestly I think this is for when you want to feel just a little melancholy, also this marks again 2 stories in the same boxset where CE has really clicked with the material.
Best 9DA Boxset Overall since Respond to All Calls

Salvation Nine is probably the best Sontaran story I've listened to in a long time. Lots of fun!

Last of the Zetacene was good. I thought the ending was a little rushed, but overall still an engaging RTD-like futuristic story.

Looking forward to listening when I get some free time. I'd like to get a set in the near future featuring Rose, Billie Piper must be available at times if she's got a ongoing solo series.
Also a story with an Angry Ninth Doctor, where he lets rip like he did in "Dalek", longer arcs would be a breath of fresh air too, perhaps a Dalek Universe style run for series 3, how about a Robert Holmes universe, featuring Autons, androids, Sontarans, Wirrn, Karn, Androzani and Henry Gordan Jago!

I thought Salvation Nine was a really strong opener. Funnily enough, I think this second series of the 9DAs has been better than the first so far, but I couldn't exactly tell you why. Is it because the writers seem more confident and finally know how to write for the Ninth Doctor ? Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the first series and the range is currently one of my favorites because it consistently delivers, but I find myself enjoying the most recent episodes even more than what we got during the first series. Station to Station, Auld Lang Syne and Salvation Nine are some of my favorite episodes at the moment, I believe.
It may also be because Eccleston's performance keeps getting better over time ? I think he's finally figured out how to play this incarnation in a way that leaves him satisfied. He's the same Doctor as the one from the 2005 series, yet there's something that makes this new version of Nine sound more expressive and less reserved than before.

I finished listening to the box set yesterday. Last of the Zetacene will probably end up being seen as "the one in the middle" like The False Dimitri was in the previous box set in my opinion, but it was still enjoyable nonetheless. A fun romp that would have worked great in Nine's TV era and Maureen O'Brien's character was quite interesting. Most likely because I could not help but comparing her to sweet, innocent Vicki.
Break the Ice was fun and atmospheric. Hearing Nine taking on a myth/God was a nice concept and heavily reminded me of Seven's battles against various Ancient Gods. I'm wondering if this episode will get a follow up at the end this second series, because of the, kind of but not really, post credits scene. This is the kind of episode that I can see myself revisiting around Chrismas, like Dorney's two parter in Ravenous 2.
I don't know who decided to recruit Tim Foley when he began writing for the Torchwood range a few years ago, but whoever you are, thank you. He's probably my favorite Big Finish writer at the moment and when I see his name in the writing credits, I know he'll give us something which ranges from good to beautiful. And I'd say Break the Ice was quite fun. Tim Foley is the kind of writer who juste "gets" how to write certain characters and I'm glad he's become one of Nine's most prominent writers. Like Dorney for Eight or Chapman for Six, I think Foley is a great fit for this particular incarnation or the Doctor.
While I think Back to Earth is still my favorite box set so far, Into the Stars was still a really enjoyable box set in my opinion. Salvation Nine was my favorite episode this time, but the rest was far from bad. The range seems to have hit its stride recently so I'm quite eager to listen to the next one. Liv meeting a "future" incarnation of her Doctor should be really interesting, given how well Eccleston plays his joyful yet emotionally distant Doctor.

I'm loving the Ninth Doctor Adventurers, does anyone if Chris is committed to more episodes after his second series of box sets and the 60th anniversary special?
