Well, RTD is back, and even with the relatively short amount of filming we've seen, there's lots of juicy tidbits dropped or hinted thus far.
-Russel T. Davies is back as showrunner. He has already written several scripts. -Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter return to produce, as will Phil Colinson.
-The new era is a co-production between BBC Studios and Bad Wolf, which itself is a subsidiary of Sony Pictures TV. -Rachel Talalay is directing.
-Ncuti Gatwa is the 14th Doctor. -David Tennant, Bernard Cribbins and Catherine Tate have returned. In addition, Yasmin Finney is playing Rose Temple-Noble, Donna's daughter, meaning this is all post TEOT. It is unknown yet if Rose2 will be transgender, like Finney.
-UNIT will return. -A fluffy white alien and insect aliens have been spotted. -Tennant is getting a new sonic, as well as a new variant of his outfit.
-Filming has occurred in Cardiff, Wembley and Camden Town, specifically Camden Market.
-RUMOUR: Beep the Meep and the Wrarth Warriors are back. -RUMOUR: Toy game machines spotted on the set in Camden could indicate the Celestial Toymaker is returning. -RUMOUR: There may be multiple specials, with Christmas/New year, Easter and November. S14 to follow.
-RUMOUR: 1, 11 and 12 may return, due to numbers seen on a slate.
-RUMOUR: Each special may focus on a different Doctor, possibly a side-effect of the Centennary regeneration. -RUMOUR: The returning incarnations will not be playing themselves but rather just have the 'current' Doctor use their likeness.
-RUMOUR: Tennant is playing some type of special incarnation rather than 10. Possibly a 13.5 or a 'almost 14'. -RUMOUR: There's some type of reality distortion at play. Perhaps even something like the Land of Fiction.
-RUMOUR: RTD wants Who to embrace an MCU model of multiple spin offs. -RUMOUR: Scott Handcock is script editing S14. In addition, other BF staff may be involved in writing.
-RUMOUR: Pete McTighe still wishes to continue working on the show.

More UNIT action on set, out in the countryside.
And it seems something has gone bang in Axminster (or somewhere suburban, where UNIt was spotted too)

A young kid being enthused about aliens on the loose…I mean if this is The Star Beast rebooted, that’s Fudge right there.

I mean if this is The Star Beast rebooted That does annoy me. Why can't they use Beep in an original story? We've had tv stories before where teh Doctor has faced an old enemy none of us have ever heard of (e.g. Fenric). It's a bit of a backhanded compliment to DWM to say, "your stuff is so good we're going to make it real ( but the stuff that you yourself did? That's not real)".

I mean, we don't really know yet what 'this' actually is - could be an adaptation, could be a sequel. Could be an Elseworlds/alternate story.

It’s what happened with Human Nature and The Lodger so I’d assume this is where it’s going. But tbh this could be both a sequel and remake. In that Beep crashes to Earth and is harboured by humans thinking he’s cute and innocent, only for the Doctor to rock up knowing the sadistic Most High has pulled this stunt before.

Honestly the more I think about The Star Beast the less this seems such a random choice on RTD’s part.
The story is very much RTD’s style of Who; the extraordinary crashing into the lives of ordinary people. Arguably it’s got more in common with 2005 Who than it did the Who of its own era (where the Fourth Doctor would rarely set foot on Earth, let alone a family home). Plus Beep the Meep is exactly the kind of thing RTD would probably invent if he didn’t already exist. “Cute fluffy rabbit-thing who is actually a sadistic murderer” is exactly the same mischievous line of thought as “cute blobs of fat birthed from disintegrating humans” and “spiky red cyborg flirts with Kylie Minogue and then dies saving her”.

Yeah, I’m not a huge fan of the idea of adapting an existing comic storyline but I’ll wait to see how they execute it before moaning.

I talked about the social media dimension in the Goodbye thread, how Ncuti and Yasmin have strong online followings: given RTD's first era loved peppering cameos from UK media figures/celebrities, I can't help but ponder how far off is the show from doing that with e-celebs/Youtubers/streamers? Like, that feels like the evolution from how the TV/News segments and spots were used before - you could see, say, 14 browsing Twitter or Youtube and seeing those kinds of reaction/reports/clips to some mysterious sighting, like how 10 would be parked in front of the TV in episodes like Army of Ghosts.
Not saying anything like Markiplier for The Master, of course. Just something to chew on.

It can’t be. Surely. I mean…. Surely not. Beep the Meep CAN’T be back, surely. Even as batty and cool an idea as it is, RTD can’t think “we’re rebuilding the production from the ground up, we’ve copped a huge amount of negative publicity and have a hostile fan-press to deal with. So let’s bring back a swear-y puffball from the comics. No one will have a go at us for thst!!”

RTD is the master (small "m") at using these elements without them overpowering the story. No-one watchin Human Nature would need to know the novel just as no-one in Gridlocks audience needs to know the Macra were 60s monsters, just another creature The Doctor knows.

The Mirror uses Gallifrey Base as a “source”.

The Mirror uses Gallifrey Base as a “source”. They also have a very good previous track record and make no mention of Gallifrey Base being their source in that article. It’s got just enough information in it to seem likely it comes from a source without anything outlandish that would come from forums, social media, etc. Also interesting to note they mention three episodes too, which has been the general rumour. In other news, there’s posts doing the rounds of a behind the scenes show called Doctor Who: Unleashed. It’ll be Confidential style in nature, be on BBC Three and presented by Steffan Powell. Aligns with shots of RTD speaking to behind the scenes crew when they were filming in Camden.

I mean… I could have been used as a source since the filming pics make it pretty obvious that it’s Beep and the Wrarth Warriors. Gotta laugh that the Mirror makes it out to be some exclusive scoop when 90% of Doctor Who Twitter has been discussing it since last week.
