Well that is unexpected. I’d guess he’s shooting outdoors imminently so they’re getting ahead of that.

Calling it now, he’ll be yet another unseen incarnation of the Doctor. Be one way of making headlines after all by having the first American in the role.

Gonna go out on a limb and say he’s playing the Toymaker. There’s been whispers about that character returning as well as arcade machines seen on set…

Oh great, from one problematic gay actor to another… Does Neil Patrick Harris have a scandal? Can't find anything on his Wikipedia page suggesting so.

Sorry have I missed something why is he a problem. The Amy Winehouse Corpse cake probably didnt do him many favours! Smurfs 2 is probably his worst offence.

Googling around, I find no scandal, but NPD does have a reputation for being rude, self-centred, and generally a bit gittish. But if people like that weren't allowed to be actors, well.... Also, I'm much more intrigued and enthused by another casting speculation, based on the photo released with the news story, that he's playing Peter Cushing's Doctor, whcih would fit with some things we've already heard.
{Spoiler for sensible rumour} Making Cushing a parallel universe Doctor would fit with the supposed alternative Doctors plot, and hearkens back to Moffat's cancelled 50th Anniversary idea about making Cushing an in-universe player of the Doctor
{Spoiler for mad rumour} Wilf is Tom Campbell's cousin but never believed his wild stories
(And I think casting another white guy sans Chinese clobber as the Toymaker is not a good solution to any percieved problems there)

I don't really get why RTD's tease used a "gem/diamond" emoji for NPH, is it teasing his character instead? The Toymaker seems a popular guess but I don't see how it would be related either. (if it is him, then dropping the whole "celestial" issue would be for the best imo)
Also, yeah it's unfortunate that he did that weird gory cake about winehouse, I don't get the joke if there is one. (just learning about it on this thread)
Considering RTD already cast him in Its a Sin, it's not really surprising to have him on board but I assume he was signed up before the controversy of last month.

That doesn't really fit with RTD saying he's playing "the greatest enemy the Doctor has ever faced."
Is there a character in "The Star Beast" that could fit? I need to re-read that story.

But I dunno, he really doesn't look much like Michael Grade... {Spoiler}'greatest enemy the Doctor has ever faced' looks suspiciously ironic to me. I reckon that even if it isn't loveable old movie Doctor, it's not going to be an opponent of the Master/Davros/Beep kind.

Nope, no humanoid villain in The Star Beast. Tbh with RTD’s talk about him being the Doctor’s greatest enemy, makes me wonder if he’ll be an antagonistic parallel universe Doctor. Thus making the Doctor’s great enemy…himself.

Sorry have I missed something why is he a problem. Amy Winehouse corpse cake mere weeks after she died. And just being generally rude/ego-centric/dismissive of other people.

Maybe he's Sarah Phelps' pitch for a Time Lord: 'A laconic poseur who can't be arsed.'

I’m thinking RTD’s bring facetious and NPH is playing Mr Grubb, purveyor of lollies and sweets who doesn’t like the Doctor.
