10 has had his time. & 14 is 10. Same. No, definitely not the same. Ten was all youthful zing and energy, wave-the-sonic-like-a-magic-wand shouting 'Allons-y' and throwing out one-liners and generally being way over the top and loving it!
Fourteen is obviously older and wiser (OK maybe not the wig or up Newton's apple tree but a Time Lord's entitled to his bit of fun and I loved it anyway! ) and has seen a lot more, especially as Twelve and Thirteen. This Doctor has lived through Clara facing the raven, 'Heaven Sent' and seeing Bill turned into a Cyberman, meeting the Fugitive Doctor and the Flux.
As an earlier Doctor almost said, he's not the man he used to be. The Doctor's innate energy shows up in flashes and still looks a bit like Ten's, because he looks more than a bit like Ten... but he's not.
An older & wiser version of 10. As I said before. No different to how 10 changed from Christmas Invasion to End of Time. So this to me is not a new regeneration. It's a degeneration.

Interesting article from the Independent about the Tennant/Gatwa regeneration rumours...
I did say last week that Fourteen and Donna were going to be a very hard act to follow...
{Spoiler} ... maybe Fifteen's answer is that he'll be running in parallel instead! I really cannot see Donna choosing to leave her family & travel with 10 again. Also this rumour seems to really go against one of the major themes of the show. Moving forward, accepting change. Characters in the show have had to do it. Audiences have had to do it. I agree with some of the points made in the article, about nostalgia etc.

We're very spoiled with continuing past Doctor stories from Big Finish and sometimes I forget television and the forward progression of the show are a different thing. That being said I feel an 8th Doctor spin-off is justified because 8 missed out on a full tv era. Also it would be great to see tv fans drawn towards Big Finish. Although an 8 spin-off would need to be done in a way that makes it different from the main show.

That is in the hands of BF marketing department sadly, they haven't even used the Whoniverse hashtag yet as far as I can see. 8 would be the only one as you say they were denied a TV era but also it has to be unique enough to justify.

You're quite right about Donna not realistically leaving her family to travel with the Doctor again. Also if the Doctor were to bi generate, the TARDIS would need to be duplicated, or 14 and 15 would have to work out some sort of timeshare.
In an ideal world we'd still get 13 episodes and an Xmas Special. With the talk of shorter seasons but spin offs making up the difference I can't help but feel, all I want is more travelling through time and space.
I chomp at the bit when there's talk of a returning Doctor spin-off because it's really the only spin-off I want.
I'd much rather have 14 Ncuti Gatwa episodes than a UNIT or Past companions series.

There’s been a further leak adding further context to the previous spoilers for The Giggle and it doesn’t sound quite as bad as it initially did.

I'm wondering if the rumour about bi generation might solve an issue Doctor Who has had with retaining Doctors longer than 3 seasons. Ncuti has mentioned he's doing 2 seasons then planning on returning to the theatre afterwards. Could we see something like;
2024 Ncuti 15th Doctor series 1 2025 Ncuti 15th Doctor series 2 2026 D Tennant 14th Doctor series 1 2027 14/15th Doctor Whoniverse event 2028 Ncuti 15th Doctor series 3 2029 Ncuti 15th Doctor series 4
And so on ......

To be clear, he didn't say he was returning to the theatre - he said he'd be doing a show after he was done filming S15. Nothing about doing just two seasons in that interview.

Well that would make sense given that S2 is filming now. That may free him up to do theatre work before returning to film s3 for 2026 broadcast.

There was a rumour along those lines ten years ago -that Tennant and Smith would both continue if they could share the duties between them, doing half a season each.

Sorry if I gave the impression Ncuti has said he's ONLY doing two series. I was sure I read a quote that he was doing a run in a play after filming series 2, I took this to mean he would need a significant break from Doctor Who, say for example a year where another Doctor could have a series that year. I've put two and two together given RTD has said we will get Doctor Who every year uninterrupted.
