I like that Liv and Helen are still in it. Expect to see that change eventually.

Well it’s not the fresh start I had been hoping for.
I abstained from Stranded, but was stranded none the less. I was hoping to jump back onboard and set sail with the Eighth Doctor on a whole new era of audio adventures.
It must be a case that the Daleks sell audios, just as they generate interest for the television show, but it does seem that they continually show up for the Eighth Doctor with his “new starts”
His return from the Divergent Universe - Terror Firma
The introduction of the EDA single disk series - Blood of the Daleks
The move to box sets - Dark Eyes
And now the move away from arcs, back to individual stories - Paradox of the Daleks
Perhaps the use of the word Paradox was chosen with a purpose. The contradiction being that this is new, but still the same…

Hardly the big announcement that should come immediately after the promise of increasing prices is it? More of the same old, same old. But hang on, Helen hasn’t met the Daleks yet so we must do that! David Richardson is really clutching at straws in the news article. And John Dorney penning half of the set isn’t exciting given his Stranded instalments. Oh I’m sure it will be massively popular. I get McGann likes working with Hattie and when one has Nicola Walker, one doesn’t easily let her go. I was telling Davy earlier, Walker is one Oscar win away from becoming Olivia Coleman. Still, I think this range and this Doctor is in desperate need of a major creative overhaul behind the scenes. I’v felt that since Doom Coalition. And where are the character stakes for Liv if we know these adventures are set between her departure from & safe return to Tania in covid era London? I don’t know. This doesn’t strike me as a very big announcement.

It just doesn’t excite me and seems a bit of a weird thing to announce after the price increase stuff; you’d have expected a bigger bang, if that makes sense? If I were Big Finish then I’d absolutely want the trio sticking around. They’re each fantastic, real coups and seem a delight to work with. It just doesn’t necessarily reflect into an exciting product anymore. Alas we can’t have infinite release schedules and just alternate TARDIS teams as much as we’d perhaps like.

No you & I in large part agree. In my perfect world you have McGann recording with Hattie & Nicola but also box sets featuring Charley, Lucie, Benny, Bliss. He is the Big Finish Doctor, let’s really explore all his era as well as ones that have not been created yet. And I keep coming back to, in my mind anyway, the desperate need for a change behind the scenes. I love David, Ken & Matt but they, along with dorney, have been steering these box sets for a decade. Let’s get someone new in and shake things up. Others mileage may vary.

Oh and I will acknowledge that Paul may be as comfortable with the current producing team on his range as he is with his team in the TARDIS but that doesn’t change my mind that the 8th Doctor range would benefit from new voices guiding it.

I'll be buying both sets, love the Eighth Doctor and always happy to see John Dorney's writing, the guy is prolific and has such a high hit rate.

So…same old companions, same script editor, same producer, John Dorney doing most of the writing, and two old enemies, plus Drax… The Big Finish Twitter account boldly proclaims this as a new start. I don’t see much new here. Think I’ll be passing on this. I'm always happy to see Dorney writing something, but man, I just do not understand why we're still using the TARDIS team. It's long past time for a change-up, I think, and Stranded presented such a perfect opportunity for them to let go. Maybe we'll wind up seeing more 8DTWs? I'm getting pretty anxious to see McGann do some more solo stories soon, or at least get a new companion to change up the dynamic a bit. (Not that i don't love Liv, but I just honestly don't think there's anything left for w her character to do with the Doctor.)

Phillip Jackson as Harry Price. Nice, and about time too!
To be honest, I wouldn’t mind seeing him becoming a regular historical celebrity. Maybe even a sequel story featuring his work as the famous Borley Rectory?

Wow! I remember pitching Gef as a story idea a long while ago. Makes me think that I ought to shut my trap. Somebody's been listening in I know it!!!!

Paradox is an enjoyable Dalek runaround by Dorney
The Dalby Spook has some surprisingly deep character stuff with some very strong performances

Paradox is a lot of fun, it must have been a really tricky one for John Dorney to keep track of as he wrote it.
For anyone feeling Dalek fatigue, please go into this with an open mind, it really is an entirely different beast than one would usually expect. If you enjoy a good farce or romp, this one's for you.
I particularly enjoyed hearing a Dalek proclaim "whoever smelt it, dealt it!"
