Just brought the two Bloodlust box sets thanks to Davy Gallaghers recommendation. Glad you're joining us, Si! Thanks, that Davy Gallagher likes me to spend my money , can't believe i held back for so long?, i know one of the actors David Selby used to be in 80's soap Falcon Crest, i remember it because my parents were huge fans.

And if - as davyg says - you like horror and serialised drama, have we got some good further suggestions for you if you enjoy Bloodlust. Lots of standalone horrors that build together to make an ongoing drama... Oooh... The Happier Dead... House by the Sea (*)... Beyond the Grave... (*) House by the Sea is a Dark Shadows solo vehicle for Colin Baker... and he's great in it.

So... Episode 4. Well, it's all kicking off now isn't it? That cliffhanger is absolutely one of my favourites, not just of Dark Shadows, but of anything. But before that, the town is now taking Maggie seriously, Amy finds out about Andrew, Frankie finds out about Susan, Jackie and Cody find out about Angelique, and it turns out Rhonda is open to some very strange ideas. So many secrets are coming out in the open, more mysteries are piling up, and it's frankly no wonder Rhonda thinks the Cunninghams will fit right in to the town. I think it was this episode where I decided this was the best series ever. And the spell is “ SORAS”. Great gag.

I am not really sure what I expected to happen but it was definitely not that. Glad I wasn't spoiled because I would not have wanted that ending surprise ruined.
Andrew was such a bastard...I was cheering for Angelique the whole time. But I also loved that Amy is a lot smarter than Andrew realizes too.
Anyways still confused about Susan. After episode 3 I thought she could only be heard but with Franky's reaction I guess she can be seen by other people.

The way I took it, is that Mike only heard them talking, not that he saw both of them, or at all. A door could have been cracked and he just heard them talk.

Lots of fun! Moreso this time around since I am not concentrating so hard at trying to find hints.... and enjoying the performances more!
I would chat but I am meeting Maggie at the General Store to stock up on bacon. Might run into Ms Grayson too.

Episode 4 has my second favorite surprise in the series. (If you don't count all the twists and turns of the final episode) Tommy is one of my favorite characters.

When Andrew tells Amy "You don't want to go to the meeting", and she submits weakly - I wondered whether he was just a controlling pig or had actually found some kind of mind-control magic. That would certainly explain why he thinks he has what it takes to go up against Angelique! I think he is the personification of "a little knowledge is a terrible thing". Far more dangerous men have set Angelique on fire and she's seen them off. I love that Susan is perfectly herself as a ghost. I never cared for the show's earlier depiction of spectres - like Bill Malloy's ghost dripping with seaweed and moaning Susan's herself just..you know...dead. Angelique's spell is hilarious not just because of what it means to the cliffhanger but of course the DS range in general where David and Amy seem a lot older than they should be in "real" life. The cliffhanger itself is wonderful. I remember I was listening to this in bed last year and the set so far seemed quite somber compared to what I knew of DS. Wow...that changed. I burst out laughing. Not many series could or would do that at the end of an episode! "Good evening Mr Cunningham, I've been expecting you" "Hardly your most impressive magic, I told you I was coming back"

I love the end of this one. It was great hearing it again. I was very glad that Andrew {Spoiler} didn't come home to a dead child, just a grown one. A much more creative and interesting way to go. And it also says something about Angelique that, out of all the terrible things she could have done, this is how she chose to punish him.

Hi Rob.... wondering if we should add the mid.point podcast by the team so the new listeners might get an idea of what was happening in the forums during the original run Just thinking aloud. I think that could be bonus listening rather than changing the schedule now. But it's up to you guys, I'm only sort of steering this as no-one else is, it's your listenthrough really! (Now I have to go and track it down. So many podcasts...)

Well, Andrew's gone and done it now, eh? It's getting hard to not race ahead with the story, I think what's next is probably still my favorite part of Bloodlust. Had a very interesting time with Part 5 where not being so focused on the whodunnit, it seemed like I actually could trace some of my wilder speculations to what are probably red herrings (clever and well coordinated ones at that) in the sound design, although fans more familiar with the original series are going to be the most prone to them. I thought I was probably just being silly the first time around, but of course this is a very good mystery series at not giving advantage to listeners of longer standing. BTW, thanks to whoever fixed that terrible problem we were having with cheerful weather (was that you, Angelique?) - looks a lot like Collinsport out there now...

Thanks so I assume I should listen to the midway one after episode 6? That would be the point to listen. It's not required at all for the series... it's just a lot of fun listening to the writers reactions to all the theories that we had in the forums at the time. Many match what is being said this listenthu as well. No need to change the schedule ... just get to it if or when you can

Thanks barnabaslives! And yes kimalysong (and anyone else), the mid point podcast is after episode 6 if you'd care to. The mid point podcast is also available here: soundcloud.com/darkshadowsbfp/27-january-2015-behind-the-scenes-podcast-4Listen to it when you've done episode 6! Apologies for my tardiness in replying. I've been working on a script for something called Bloodline so trying not be too distracted.

So Episode 5! After an episode of making me hate him, Andrew showed light and shade in this one as his misdeeds get uncovered and he’s held to account. Obviously he was snarling and nasty and petulant and spoiled by turns, but when he was finally broken I felt quite sorry for him again. And we have proper Amy back again, yay!
My word, Kate’s messed up though isn’t she? I suppose having a friend possessed and killed live on television would probably affect you, but it’s interesting that she has such conflicted feelings about it. And then she and Frankie become a couple, and then fight just as the episode starts spiral out of control as it heads to two more attacks.
That said, my favourite moment is possibly Jessica’s calm and measured response to Susan’s sudden appearance. Marie Wallace really manages to avoid chewing any scenery in that moment and instead chooses to downplay it which I think is utterly commendable.
