News article seems to be airbrushing Dave Martin out of history

Blimey, this has to be about the third time Axos has escaped its time loop isn’t it?

Honestly with the release of Tenth Doctor Classic Companions And having the Axons featuring in that I feel that kinda clashes Story wise
Interesting enough Christopher Naylor nor Harry Sullivan isn’t featured or mentioned but Naomi Cross is

I think the long periods of time between release kills the momentum for this range. I’ve forgotten most of the events of the preceding sets, yet it’s a range telling one bigger story. Will hopefully find the time to relisten before Objective Earth.

Admittedly I’ve still yet to listen to the first two sets but I’m surprised The Eleven is still playing a prominent role in this series.

Do we know what happened to Colonel Shinji?

{Spoiler} Given that they just appeared in Quantum of Axos, I kinda wish that Axos Unleashed had a link to it. Seems weird to release two Axos stories so close together and be the same plot of Axos getting free once more. I know that they were recorded quite far apart but still...

Downloading now. One of the better ongoing series at the moment. I love that they always pull some surprises. However, I need to relisten to the previous ones first before I can treat myself to the latest release on the weekend.

A decent three & three-quarter hours.
I will say that it was nice that this set was (technically) Harry-less, as it give Naomi some 'time to shine', rather than just... Being there.

Unit is one of my favorite Big Finish audio series (The New series, Brave New World, Classic Unit in CC, etc). I often marveled at how the writers were able to weave sections of Unit’s story in between various gaps & I enjoyed the variety of stories, characters & team compositions. (the one gap I’m waiting to be filled is the Bonnie Zygon Osgood storyline, which is wishful fantasy lol). The newest release is Unit Nemesis 3: Objective Earth. I thoroughly enjoyed this boxset as I had the previous releases, including the interviews. It just took me awhile to express my thoughts into writing because I got emotional about 1 of the stories. Please be careful not to click this spoiler if you don’t wanna be spoiled. Jacqui McGee grew from a somewhat pest in the earlier stories into a solid, dependable, member of the team. Her character arc & development is worth following & experiencing in the many stories she appears in, including the Eighth of March & the Lady Christina boxsets. She’s grown to become one of my favorite characters & I got teary eyed at her death. 😭 But it was her time, & her teammates were saddened by her loss & encouraged by her sacrifice This set of stories continues the prevailing Unit theme of being in so many different places, most of which would be nigh impossible or super expensive to be on tv. So instead the audio fires up our imaginations to visualize the adventures & cool vehicles of the characters. I missed the old characters, but welcome the new ones, & in typical Unit, everyone slots into their task. I love the many callbacks. My listening & appreciation of 7’s boxset, Sullivan & Cross AWOL was somewhat enhanced by listening to their adventures in this series first, imho. Such out of sequence structuring might not be to everyone’s taste, but it worked for me. I actually experienced Unit in audio wildly out of sequence (Eighth of March, then 4,5, 6, The Legacy of Time, 8, 1, 2, 3, 7) since I bought whatever boxsets were on sale & consumed them immediately (the days of zero backlog 😁). Someday I will listen to everything properly in order, plus the tv appearances. 👍🏻 Anyhow, love this boxset, the music, characters, story, dialogue. Gave it a 5. 😊👍🏻 Well worth my excited announcement day preorder, despite the large gaps between releases. Will wait patiently for the final explosive boxset in this series. 😁

Really loved this. Exactly what I want out of UNIT. We’ve got action and plenty of location hopping, whilst allowing the time for investigative work, reflection and development for our characters. Gone are the days of the first run where we reset every time. Jemma & Ingrid have never been better and are rounded off by a terrific ensemble cast. I liked all of UNIT as individuals in the first run, but they never worked as a team for me, whereas this time they do. Even Naomi fared better here than her other outings, both in UNIT and with the Seventh Doctor, and it helped that she was effectively away from Harry. Couple of spoilery thoughts: I loved Jacqui’s death. Very well executed and for all my criticism that the first run of UNIT reset every time, one of the few through lines was UNIT’s evolving relationship with Jacqui, specifically Kate, Osgood & Josh, so her death hit hard. I hope it sticks because that obituary with Kate was wonderful.
Josh’s apparent death was very well executed too, particularly his farewell with Osgood. Again, despite the resets, there was always the hint of something more bubbling away with those two and I loved their final interaction. It’s a shame it didn’t actually happen and it turned out he was fine a couple of minutes later! Just four bloody good stories and I really hope they stick the landing with the cliffhanger. There’s a hell of a lot of potential there. I will definitely be relistening to the first three in the lead up to volume four. I remembered enough to connect the dots, but I think there’s a whole other layer if you could listen consecutively. It’s worth watching the video promo for the set, as I’ve just done now, because it gives a nice recap but also shows you the Vulpreen, who haven’t actually been on the cover yet.

Two stories in so far. I liked what they did with shining a light at the mental anguish Jackie McGee is suffering and having Kate interact with her and trying to build on the previous relationship. You could really feel the mental torture Jackie went through, so
{Spoiler} her sacrificing herself in the second story made perfect sense and while it comes as a shock (I had not expected them to kill of one of the main characters!) just consequently follows the character story through to the end
Otherwise, the stories are exactly what I expected them to be, nice exiting run-around, plenty of action and explosions, great performances by some very enthusiastic actors who really dive into their roles.
Well done. This range continues to be engaging, fun and an audio action blockbuster.
Of course, if you wanted to be nitpicky, there are a few things that make no sense and the invading aliens appear a bit too one-dimensional, but every action movie needs some cardboard goons to blow up. One example of a nitpick: one of my usual "B-movie sci-fi" pet peeves is also present here- so there are some evil aliens from a different dimension/ planet, invading earth, there is NO Tardis around and nobody is using Star Trek universal translators. I get the point that the Chinese tour guide hostage is speaking very good English since it is her job, but for some reason Lord Varliss and his goons do not strike me as the kind of people who visit evening school to learn English to do a trip to Earth, visit the sights and have some lovely chats with the locals. Well, maybe the Lord and his Commander have learned the language since they need to voice their demands, but we can as well understand the lowly foot-soldiers.
This is something that has always bugged me about alien invasion stories. And might be one of the reasons why the Tardis translation was invented in the first place- because otherwise, nobody could understand anything of the alien weird gibberish and screeching.
I come from Germany, where if we speak dialect, some people cannot understand other Germans and their dialect. In another thread, it was mentioned that common Americans sometimes have a hard time understanding English accents. And then we expect Lord Varliss to speak perfect English? Please.
