Group E results. {Spoiler} Japan and Spain are going through. Germany and Costa Rica are going out. Bit of a controversial goal in the Japan V Spain game, which I think decided that.

{Spoiler} Morocco have beaten Portugal. History has been made. I hope England can beat France tonight. Morocco against England would be quite a match-up.

Not in this case. The women's team still managed it earlier this year. There's always Euro 2024 in Germany, or World Cup 2026 in North America. Gutted about the result anyhow. France may defend their title.

Only two teams left now. Should be exciting, most other matches in this tournament have been.

Personally I'll be glad when it's over... a World Cup in the Winter with Fog and Ice outside just doesn't seem right to me!

Personally I'll be glad when it's over... a World Cup in the Winter with Fog and Ice outside just doesn't seem right to me! Unless you mean in most of the northern hemisphere where people are watching on tv, then that’s not the case in Qatar. It’s even hotter in summer, which is why it’s being held in winter. I can definitely see your point, especially since you probably do mean people watching at home.

And that's it. Argentina have done it, Messi gets his legacy.

Question- I am no soccer expert, and no Arabic expert, but in Germany, that black coat Messi gets dressed in is a huge object of contention and objection. My gay friends on Facebook make a lot of jokes about it "oh, so you can wear a black men's neglige, but not an arm-band?" (and similar). Anyone has any thoughts on this here? I personally do not see it as offensive, but it clearly is to some people.

It's a Bisht, a traditional Qatar robe worn on special occasions such as birthdays, weddings and celebrations and was given to Messi as a mark of respect as the Captain of the winning team. Social media and those who make a career out of being 'offended' chose to make more of it.
