I simply adore Derek Jacobi's War Master, I find the range can do no wrong, this incarnation is so entertaining and dare I say charming. I know the character is evil and his charms a manipulation but I find him so engaging to listen to, I sometimes hope he will reveal there is some good in him but perhaps that would end the range.
My question, is it wrong to like such a character? I certainly don't condone his actions but sometimes villians are great entertainment. I also love how bonkers Missy is, some incarnations of the Master are less charming but provide entertainment in a different way. Geoffrey Beevers Crispy Master is not charming but the incarnation is no less engaging, he's creepy and tragic in equal measure.
It's funny some incarnations are fun to root against, John Simms Master is a petulant brat and I enjoy seeing his schemes fail but the War Master is one I get guilty pleasure in seeing him win, even against my beloved favourite Doctors.

Not at all. Villains can be just as enjoyable as heroes. It’s why some of pop cultures most memorable characters are those who embrace the darkness and shun the light.

Who would you consider the most interesting villians of Pop culture? Off the top of my head I'm thinking the Joker, Hannibal Lector, Darth Vader and of course the War Master.

Elon musk isn’t a villian at all nor fictional I don't know a great deal about Elon Musk, I imagine like many extremely successful in business and super rich he is a high functioning psychopath. Can't say I've ever thought of him as an interesting villain though.

Musk is definitely a villain, but yeah, he's as far from interesting as it gets.

Back to the original question- is it wrong to like the Master?
I like the Master! Not particularly the War Master incarnation, but I like him in general, and he might be one of the reasons I like the 3rd Doctor era so much.
The Master is a great villain.
But I am a person who generally is fond of villains, which started as a kid, when my favorite part of James Bond was the villains appearing and showing off the latest death trap they devised. I even dreamed up my very own evil lair.
I stand by the word that a good story rises and falls with a good villain. This is one of the main reasons that for example the modern Star Wars movies fall totally flat for me.
So yeah, if it is wrong to like villains like the Master, let us both do wrong. Muahahahaha.

What makes a good evil lair? Now there's a question! For starters a moat filled with sharks A library with a hidden escape passage, which ultimately leads to a room with descending ceiling spikes And some sort of pit of death to throw any aspiring secret agents into!

I have always been partial to a lava fall myself, and of course some vicious aquatic life... best to have the whole collection, a shark tank, a piranha pit, a tank with venomous octopussies, maybe even a pet giant squid!
The heart would be my evil scientist lab and of course I would treat my minions well, like the villain in that Simpsons episode. Swimming pools, sauna and tennis courts for the minions.
