I’m not really sure I see the need or potential to put Jo Jones with the Third Doctor again, but Big Finish have done consistently great stuff with the older Jo, so I remain optimistic. I love Jo but also don't see the need for this. I'd prefer a new companion or more with Liz Shaw.

Unless I'm forgetting someone, isn't this the first time in a while that a Short Trip alum (Barker) has graduated to a full cast release?

Unless I'm forgetting someone, isn't this the first time in a while that a Short Trip alum (Barker) has graduated to a full cast release? This year Rochana Patel and Sophie Iles have both done full casts, and Angus Dunican is making the jump with February’s 11th Doctor Chronicles.

Count me as unconvinced about the benefits Jo Jones as opposed to Jo Grant, but I'm open minded about it.
What I'm less keen on is the 2 part format for 3DAs - 2 parters were about the only thing BF got wrong creatively in the 4DAs, and it took them 8 years to move decisively away from them in the 4DAs. Hope this is not a sign of things to come in the 3DAs.

I would’ve preferred to see Liz return and join Three and Jo on their Season 10 TARDIS travels tbh.
I don’t really like the idea of Three seeing Jo again after The Green Death. It kinda feels like it’d take away from the ending of that story. And presumably they’re just going to see it after Death of the Doctor for Jo to explain how she can meet him without contradicting that but it still feels a bit off.
I’m just not really sure how this can build on anything that wasn’t already done beautifully in The Sacrifice of Jo Grant.
Give Liz or the Brig some TARDIS trips instead, I say.

Is Katy now the “oldest” or longest serving companion actor now? When was the last story with Peter Purves or Anneke Wills or Fraser Hines?

Does this open the door to the Doctor returning for past companions in the future? Does he now look back? Susan, Ian & Barbara, Sarah Jane Smith ( continuation of that cliffhanger audio series) , Vicki, Zoe… Basically, everyone in that support group. The possibilities are endless.

Looking forward to this one, especially with the older Jo Jones. As Katy has gotten older I think her "young Jo" voice has suffered. I'm happy that we will have her in this one not having to try and put on a young voice and just hear her authentically have a story with "her Doctor".

Hmmm..while I am a fully paid up member of the Katy Manning Appreciation Society I'm actually hesitant to order this boxset right now, mainly because with the scant information given it does feel like a retread of well worn ground. I'm hoping I am wrong in that opinion though, and certainly on Twitter Katy appears to be suggesting that it is going to special. But until those hints are confirmed I'm going to wait.
Oh, and before I forget? Plus one on a return for the talking Penguin. 🐧

I wonder if this will follow up at all to A Quiet Night In. That story certainly... did not leave Jo in an especially nice place. And it would certainly justify going with the older "Jo Jones" rather than the more familiar Jo Grant. And also, you know, it'd be fun to see the 3rd Doctor pop up in a more modern time period. Not entirely sure when A Quiet Night In was supposed to take place, but I think it's safe to assume the early 2000s at the very latest, since Jo is a grandmother by then. Is Katy now the “oldest” or longest serving companion actor now? When was the last story with Peter Purves or Anneke Wills or Fraser Hines? Frazer Hines was in The 3DA The Annihilators earlier this year William Russel's tenure goes from November 1963 to October 2022, a span of 59 years, so I think it's safe to say he's in the top spot. And after him, there's Carol Ann Ford, who likewise started in 1963 and last appeared in Susan's War, which was 2020, so that gives her 57 years. Katy Manning started in 1971, so by 2023 she'll be in her 52nd year.

Not really sure about the idea behind this set but I’ll wait to see how it’s executed before criticising. Looks like it’s going to be 3x2 stories though which I’m definitely not a fan of - it really didn’t help the 6DAs.

B*gger me, you're quick! I had only just seen this notification on Facebook. Interesting - and not entirely pleasing - that they're going for three two-part stories here. I was always quite happy that the 3DAs had evaded this 'economic' style of story-telling, particularly as it's all but killed off my interest for current Sixth Doctor stories. Still - Lizzie Hopley's writing one, so that's good news!

I must admit, I'm a little surprised that they're doing all two parters as well. When it comes to Big Finish two parters, I usually find (although there are exceptions) that they either feel rushed or rather like an extended Short Trip.

The 1st story will be key as it could be dealing with Professor Jones Passing, though reading the Description it could be Jo with a medical issue. Regards mark687

Only the 9DAs seem to make a virtue of that style of story-telling. 3DAs, by the nature of their television counterparts, are longer, more involved stories. I'm not saying that BF should continually copy the styles of each Doctor's respective eras, but I'm not keen on two-parters for The Third Doctor. Unless they're all linked, that is. That way, I can pretend it's a six-parter!

MUST be post-SJA?
And for the Doc either before The Time Warrior or dare I say it during the gap at the end of Planet of the Spiders?!
But I love the whole' many years later' idea, even if it pushes the limits of the canon

A great duo. But why reunite them? Just do more adventures during the era. According to Vortex, its harder for Katy Manning to do the Jo Grant voice these days so she asked if they could do more with Jo Jones instead.
