There's a reference to a Doctor in a battered leather coat. now, Eccelston's coat is old, but battered? could it be a sneaky War cameo?
ETA: I've just seen the cover for that story - it's the ninth Doctor.

So, what do we think, Nick's Northern accent or will one of the core actors do double duty?

So, what do we think, Nick's Northern accent or will one of the core actors do double duty? If done in narration style, it'll probably be Ian McNiece doing Nine's voice. Cheers Tony

Cheers Tony It is - Ian talks about having to learn how to do approximations of Chris, David and Matt in the preview of the set in this months DWM.

So what do we think - will this get a second series like Diary of River Song?
Personally, I can't see it because I doubt the Doctor Who version of Churchill is as appealing to most as River.

Maybe not but I also imagine Ian McNeice commands a lower fee than Alex Kingston so it's all relative as to whether it does "well".

Ian does all the narration, and it isn't an impression of the actor, more how Churchill himself might have narrated words from someone else (if that makes sense)

I was in studio for day 2 of recording and my personal view is this has bags of potential. All down to commercials, obviously. I suspect we will get to hear more on Saturday

If it sells well enough there's no reason not to assume it couldn't be developed into its own range, BF has made spin-offs for some of its own minor recurring characters before, and telling stories through the point of view of a famous historical figure probably gives the writers a new tone or style to base stories around, it all depends on successful the first boxset is at establishing itself as something unique, it could be a way to get more 9 or 11 stories until they possibly sign up for the audios themselves. I think Churchill encounters some of the Classic Doctors in the books, and Victory Of The Daleks implies Churchill and the Doctor have a long history with each other, so I certainly think there's scope for more stories.

Isn't this marked down as Volume 1 - implying that we're going to be getting more? I wouldn't be surprised if a second box-set was announced on the release date or at BF8. I'd love to see some classic Doctors in the second volume, given that Sixie has met him in one of the novels, I believe.

I agree, it's just a question of how popular Churchill is as a character.

Ian does all the narration, and it isn't an impression of the actor, more how Churchill himself might have narrated words from someone else (if that makes sense) As if Churchill is recounting the story later on - rather like my idea that all the Ian CCs are him regaling his friends with wild tales over brandy and cigars.

This is the first release in ages I'm simply not enthusiastic about.

I wasn't excited about this release when it was first announced, but after hearing the trailer and getting closer to the release date, I find my anticipation growing.
